MEMBERSHIP WITH THE AUSTRALIAN WAGYU ASSOCIATION

Welcome to membership with the Australian Wagyu Association (AWA). Our membershipprovides you access to thewide range of genetic improvement and marketing services offered by the Association to enhance your Wagyu business, in commitment to ourvision of stimulating the production and promotion of Australian Wagyu.

There are two membership categories so choose the type of membership that best suits you and your Wagyu business.

FULL MEMBERSHIP

An applicant for Full membership shall be a person or corporation involved in the breeding and/or production of Wagyu or Wagyu-infused cattle. Only Full members shall be entitled to record and register Wagyu cattle. Full members shall be eligible to be elected as a member of the Council, to vote, and to be heard at any general meeting of the Association.

Full members shall be entitled to all services available to Associate members (see below), plus, on payment of the necessary fees to:

  • Record Wagyu Fullblood and Crossbred Wagyu cattle and their performance data in the Herd Book, Crossbred and Commercial Wagyu registers maintained by the Association.
  • Verify Wagyu breed content through the Wagyu Breed Verification Program
  • Participate in the Wagyu Genetic Analysis at no additional costfor BREEDPLAN enrolment and performance data entry
  • Use discounted DNA-typing, parent verification and recessive condition testing at the University of Queensland Animal Genetics Laboratory.
  • Participate in GenProb recessive genetic analysis.
  • Export certification of live animals, semen and embryos.
  • Receive specialised reports through the members’ only area of the AWA website.
  • Participate in Research and Development projects.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

An applicant for Associate membership shall be a person or corporation interested in the Wagyu breed or involved in associated industries like wholesale / retail meat distribution and/or hospitality. Associate membership is not available to persons involved in the breeding of Wagyu Fullblood or Wagyu Crossbred cattle and shall not be entitled to register Wagyu cattle. Associate members shall not be eligible to be elected as a member of the Council, nor to vote, and not to be heard at any general meeting of the Association.

Associate members shall be entitled, on payment of the necessary fees, to:

  • Receive the AWA’s official publication The Australian Wagyu Update distributed three times per year and monthly Wagyu eNews
  • Advertise in The Australian Wagyu Update, AWA website, eNews and AWA member email network.
  • Enjoy discounted member rates to conferences and education events hosted by the Association.

MEMBERSHIP TYPE

The AWA membership year is the financial year from 1st July to 30th June.

Members will be invoiced for the annual subscription fee on 1st July each year (see the AWA Fee Schedule on our website)
