May 19, 2017 Dear Parents,

This week the students were very excited to begin our unit on Dinosaurs! On Monday, the students colored in the cover of their dinosaur journals. On Tuesday, we read facts about the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and the students colored the picture and wrote their favorite T-Rex facts. On Wednesday, our class had a fantastic time on our field trip at the Morton Arboretum! They saw beautiful flowers, went through a maze made of out of shrubs, found leaf prints that look like fossils in the sidewalks, and climbed through tree houses. After the field trip, the students drew dinosaur pictures during OT group with Mrs. Tessa, and they will be turned into dinosaur t-shirts for the students to wear on the last day of school. On Thursday, the students learned facts about the Brontosaurus, and they colored the picture and wrote their favorite fact in their journals. Today, the students learned all about the Triceratops and answered questions in their journal about the dinosaur. This afternoon, the students did a fantastic job saying their lines and poems, and singing the song in the Enormous Watermelon Play! I am so very proud of the students for all their hard work!

Many parents have been asking about summer packets for the students to work on to prevent the “summer slide” of their skills. In the backpack today, you will find a calendar of fun summer activities, a summer reading calendar, a Summer Practice Workbook, and an OT fine motor summer packet. Additional packets will be coming home next week.

Exploremore Day is on Friday, May 26th. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help our students in their classes! Our students will participate in their three Exploremore Day classes in the morning, and they will be watching a movie with Mrs. Sparacio’s class in the afternoon.
