Profile of learners:10 learners, 6 Female, 4 male, age 40-65 years mixed ethnicity. Preferred styles of learning: Visualand kinaesthetic. Four are employed and the other six are retired. No SEN declared. Three academic levels.

Topic: MS Word 2010.

Aims:To create and save a poster and sign-in sheet using MS Word, the poster will include WordArt and ClipArt, and the sign in sheet will include a Table.

Objectives:

  1. To create a poster with images inserted.
  2. To create a separate document with a table included as well as other formatting.
  3. To save these documents separately.
  4. To be able to identify different shortcuts available for copy, paste and cutting words and images into a document.

Leaning Outcomes:

  1. Discuss how to insert images into Word document.
  2. Explain how to use WordArt and ClipArt.
  3. Demonstrate how to format different types of documents, including typing, using fonts and colours.
  4. Illustrate how to copy, paste and cut words and images in order to move them around a Word document.

Domains of learning: Cognitive L3, Psychomotor L3 and Affective L3.

Functional skills: Literacy, language, numeracy (LLN) and ICT are embedded in this lesson. Later ICT is added as a good practice as part of skills for life agenda.

Differentiation; Slow learners will be given extra support –Time and handouts. Advanced learners will be given challenging tasks.

Planning and preparation: Topic and learning outcomes are written on flip chart paper and are displayed for all learners to see.

All learners have a PC, switched on and MS word is loaded. Demo ms word document and images are saved on desktop under folder Jenny micro teach.
