ATTENTION: FAMILY AND COMSUMER SCIENCE EDUCATORS
A partnership between the Greater Kansas City Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Home and Community Group of GKCAFCS and the Kansas City Business Professionals in Family and Consumer Sciences, Inc. allows us to provide at least two scholarships of a minimum of $1,000.00 for the 2011-2012 school year.
In 2011 three scholarships and a total of $3,000.00 were awarded to students from Kansas State University, Missouri State University and Pittsburgh State University.

Please make personal contact with students who are especially deserving of a scholarship.
Stress all applicants must send in a complete application, preferably typed.
It is permissible to make additional copies of applications.

KANSAS CITY FRIENDS OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES
The Greater Kansas City Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Home and Community Group of GKCAFCS jointly fund a Scholarship Fund known as the Kansas City Friends of Family and Consumer Sciences Fund
Purpose: To provide at least two scholarships of a minimum of $1000.00 to college students in the areas of Family and Consumer Science.
Eligibility requirements:
1. Be a junior or senior full time student pursuing a degree in an accredited college/university with a major in one or more of the knowledge based areas of Family and Consumer Sciences (Specific university departments may be named differently, i.e. Human Ecology) in the fall of 2012
2. Knowledge based areas of Family and Consumer Sciences for which scholarships will be awarded include: Family and Consumer Science Education/Extension, Dietetics, Nutrition, Health and Foods Management, Human Development and Family Relations, Apparel Design, Textiles and Merchandising, Housing and Development, Consumer Economics and Resource Management and International Issues related to the above subject areas.
3. Be a resident of Kansas or Missouri.
4. Have an average or above average scholastic standing.
Applications will not be considered unless all of the following information is provided:
1. Completed application form
2. College transcripts
3. Three (3) letters of recommendation from the following persons who know the
Applicant’s qualifications:
a. A FACS instructor
b. One other instructor
c. An employer, minister or other person
Completed forms received by the chairman of the scholarship committee must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2012
The recipient will be selected and notified by the scholarship committee on or before May 30, 2012.
