Research Associate: Manufacture of FRP/glulam composite beams. Structural analysis of wood, composite, and plastic materials according to ASTM standards. Project proposal and planning. Quality management representative for ISO 17025 compliant testing laboratory. Operation of laser scanning confocal microscope.

North Shore Community College, Lynn, MA (Jan. 1998 to May 1999)

Adjunct Professor: Taught 2 semesters of Biology 101 (and laboratory) to classes of 30 students.

Children’s Hospital, Boston, MA (September, 1995 to October, 1997).

Research Technician: Used molecular biology techniques to search for a novel gene sequence in the kidney. Provided technical support and training in the use of research equipment, and was responsible for maintenance and repair. Taught experimental protocols to physicians in Harvard Medical School’s Pediatric Nephrology Fellows program. Managed daily operations in the laboratory of the Director of Nephrology Research. Ordered equipment and reagents to meet laboratory needs.

Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory, Salsbury Cove, ME (June, 1995 to August, 1995)

Analytical Technician: Maintained and operated laboratory equipment. Managed radioisotope program (safety training, inventory, storage of waste). Purchased laboratory supplies.
