Purpose of the New Role:The Research Fellow is responsible for conducting research in the area of visual and feature learning for face detection, alignment and tracking.
Main Responsibilities / % time per year1. / Toundertakefundamental research, and devise and implementnovel computer vision and learning algorithms for face detection, alignment and tracking. / 70%
2. / To develop a track record of published research findings in internationally leading peer-reviewed journals and conferences. To contribute documented software to the project. / 20%
3. / To help with the supervision of graduate students conducting related research. To assist with the pursuit of continuation funding. / 10%
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential / DesirableQualifications/ Education /
- PhD (or close to completion) in Computer Vision.
- Research experience inthe area of face analysis.
- Research experience in any of the following areas: detection, tracking, alignment and recognition.
Skills/Training /
- Background in Computer Vision: feature extraction/learning, mathematical optimization and machine learning.
- Good programming skills (Matlab, C++)
- Ability to design, conduct and project original research in the subject area.
- Excellent writtencommunication, including the ability to write reports and research outputs.
- Prior work on (facial) deformable models
- Experience in the area of learning representations including deep learning.
Experience /
- Published research articles in any of the following areas: feature learning, detection, tracking, alignment and recognition.
- Published articles in the area of face analysis
- Published articles in CVPR/ICCV/ECCV/BMVC/FG and IEEE TPAMI, IJCV, IEEE TIP.
Statutory/Legal / Eligible to work in the UK.
