Excel

1. Use Internet Explorer. Go to our class website and download onto your personal storage device the file named: Budget-Practice-Office 2016.xlsx

2. Open your Budget-Practice-Office 2016.xlsx file. You’ll see that there are two spreadsheets in this workbook. One is called Sheet1 and the other is Sheet2.

a. Rename Sheet1 to Sales and make the tab red.

b. Rename Sheet2 to Budget and make the tab blue.

c. Move the Budget tab so it appears in order before the Sales tab.

3. Budget Sheet

Here’s what your Budget spreadsheet looks like now as you begin:

And here’s what it should look like where you’re done:

Some of the things you’d need to do are:

a. Center the title “2015 Budget” across the columns. Make it a larger font size, shade it and place a border around it.

b. Also place a border under the column headings, center them within the cells and bold the key words as shown in column A.

c. Widen the columns as necessary so that the values are fully visible.

d. Use formulas for: Total Income, Total Expenses, Savings (the formula would be the Income – Total Expenses)

e. Use a function to determine the average food cost and place that formula in cell B16.

f. Use a formula to calculate the percentage of income that was saved. To do this, take the total savings and divide it by the total income.

g. Format the cells as shown. (notes the commas, number of decimal positions, percentage formats, dollar signs, etc. in the various cells)

4. Sales Sheet

Here’s what your Sales spreadsheet looks like now as you begin:


And here’s what it should look like where you’re done:

Some of the things you’d need to do here are:

a.  Move the Bellevue, Kent and total columns to the right one column. Enter the Lynnwood column and its sales values.

b. Use formulas for all of the totals

c. Format the title (center, larger font)

d. Format the totals (bold, notice the border and the currency format and decimal positions.

e. Format the other numbers as shown with comma formatting

f.  Now create the two 3 –D pie charts as shown. The first one should chart the total sales by type. And the second one should chart the sales by location. Insert the correct titles on the charts and move them into the position shown.

g.  Print the spreadsheet landscape and fit to one page. Also print formula view landscape and fit to one page.
