Volume 7, Issue 18 RJR PTSA NEWSLETTER Feb. 3-Feb. 9 , 2014

What’s New this Week February Birthdays - page 3 “Souper” Lunch Volunteers - page 4 Free College Prep Series - page 4 Spring Sports Tryouts - page 6 Other News It’s Time to Register for 2014-2015! Arts – page 2 Around Campus – pages 3 & 4 It’s hard to imagine that although we are barely into Student Services - page 5 Athletics - page 6 second semester, it’s time for our students to register for classes for next year. Here’s a summary of the overall schedule and important dates to remember:

Student Kick-off Meetings, February 5th-7th – All rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders will attend an important registration meeting conducted by RJR Director of Student Services, Nicole Beale, covering course selection and the registration process. At the end of each session, students will receive individual registration cards with their assigned appointment date and time, as well as a WSFCS course booklet.

Registration Fair, Monday, February 10th at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium – Reynolds will host its second annual “registration fair” following a brief PTSA meeting. Mrs. Beale will provide a registration overview. After the meeting, parents and students will have the opportunity to talk with teachers and counselors about specific course and course level selections. All parents and students are highly encouraged to attend. Families who attended last year’s inaugural registration fair found it very informative and highly worthwhile.

Individual Student/Counselor Appointments, February 12th-March 18th- Each student will be assigned a 15-minute appointment with his or her assigned counselor to register for 2014-2015 classes. No changes will be allowed after March 21st. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend with their student. Please “do your homework” and come to the appointment prepared with course selections (don’t forget to include alternates), interests and specific questions.

Next week, we will provide “Helpful Hints for Parents and Students during the Registration Process” – valuable pointers from counselors and “seasoned” parents to ensure a productive and successful registration for every student.
