CALL for CARD PLAYERS

A meeting of card players will be held at Yellowbird East Community Centre (YECC) on Tuesday, December 1st, 12:00 noon to 12:30 p.m. OR you can complete the short survey HERE. SWESA has received many requests for bridge, whist, and canasta. Join with us at YECC to organize some groups to play cards for the New Year! Let us know what games you enjoy playing and the best times to meet.

SWESA’S CHRISMAS LUNCHEON will be held on Wednesday, Decem-ber 16th, 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., YECC. Cost: $10.00, members; $15.00, non-members. Please note: attendance is limited. You are encouraged to preregister as soon as possible.

REMEMBER: The Seniors Lounge at Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre (TCRC) is closed on the days luncheons are held at YECC.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

·  November 27th: Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Bus Trip to View Magna Carta, YECC. Due to cancellations, a few tickets are available to see this 800 year old document regarded as the foundation of democracy and the rule of law. Preregistration required. Cost: $20.00, members; $30.00, non-members.

·  December 8th, Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Bus Trip to Canada’s Largest Christmas Store, YECC. Trip to Greenland Garden Center to view a beautiful display of Christmas trees, collectibles, figures, and much, much more. Please confirm your registration (bus currently full) and/or remit fee (cost: $20.00, members; $30.00, non-members).

·  December 17th: Thursday, Christmas Lights Bus Tour, 5:45 to 9:00 p.m.. Buses will leave from TCRC and YECC to visit Candy Cane Lane and the Legislature grounds. Cost: $20.00, members; $25.00, non-members. Preregistration is required.

·  December 15th: Tuesday, TCRC will be closed for the holidays.

·  December 23rd: Wednesday, YECC will be closed for the holidays.

·  January 4th: Both TCRC and YECC will reopen for the New Year.

“TOONIE TALKS:” Cost: $2.00 per session per member; $4.00, per non-member. Preregistration is requested.

·  Introduction to Photo Apps: Monday, November 30th, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., TCRC. Be ready to impress your family with your holiday photos!!! With staff from Edmonton Public Library (EPL), we’ll browse through some of the more popular apps used to take and edit images with your phone or tablet.

·  EPL Card + Tablet = Fun! Tuesday, December 2nd, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., YECC. In partnership with EPL, this session introduces partici-pants to all the wonderful aspects of tablets. Bring your tablet; learn the basics and see what EPL resources can be accessed for free!

·  Vitamins, Supplements & Medications: Wednesday, December 9th, 11:00 to 12:00 noon, YECC. Do you have questions about vitamins, supplements, and medications? Clinical pharmacy repre-sentatives will discuss the benefits and uses of vitamins and supplements, including which ones interact with medications. Question and answer session featured.

OTHER PROGRAMS:

·  Greenfield Community Luncheon sponsored by Petrolia Seniors Group on Tuesday, December 15th, 11:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Greenfield Community Hall, 3803 – 114 Street. A traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served, followed by The Braille Tones Choir and a sing-along. Cost: $23.00. Contact Nick at 780-435-1045 to confirm attendance or for further information.
