INFORMATION AND BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF 3-D Design
(CRAFTS 2 MODEL APPENTICESHIP)

3-D Design (CRAFTS 2 MODEL APPRENTICESHIP ) This course will further expose the student to the construction of quality craftsmanship projects, as well as concentration on the improvement of the student’s fine motor skills. The course will entail many of the skills acquired in the previous course but with a greater emphasis on quality in design and production. All projects in this production-orientated class are subject to approval by the instructor and may be altered to conform to the skill level of the individual student. Students will be expected to pay for any materials used in projects produced in this course. This course is for the serious craftsman and will require extra time for the average student.

COURSE GOALS: To evaluate student potential and work towards a level of expertise needed to succeed in motor skill related occupations with attention to 3-D design and effects.
NOTE: The content of this course may vary according to the skill and maturity level or level of expertise attained by the majority of students enrolled that semester. Availability of materials will also be considered.
The $25.00 3-D Design Fee is due within 15 school days after the semester begins.

ALL STUDENTS WILL BE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR FOR APPROVAL OF ALL DESIGN AND PRODUCTION OF ALL APPRENTICE ASSIGNMENTS.
1) School equipment will not be loaned out after school hours or off school grounds.
2) Students should purchase their own x-acto knife for use at home. This may be purchased through retail outlets at a nominal cost. It is your responsibility to bring ALL needed items to class EACH day. This includes pencil, paper, etc. Failure to do so will be reflected in daily grade.
3) Students are financially responsible for all finished product materials and some production materials.
Students will pay a $25.00 materials fee to cover projects taken home and some production materials.
Students are responsible for acquiring all materials not held as supplies by the school. STUDENTS,
not the teacher, are responsible for informing parents or guardians of materials needed for projects.
4) Completion of one project every week and a half will allow the student to stay on schedule. Failure to have project materials on hand will loss of daily work grade.
5) Students should adhere strictly to the work schedule so as to not fall behind in production. Inability to
To acquire materials will not be accepted as an excuse for failing to keep this schedule. Two (2) points will be deducted for each day the project is over schedule.
6) Students will be responsible for acquiring all designs and illustrations used in the process of their projects or the responsible use of any illustrated material belonging to the school. All designs will be subject to evaluation and approval of the instructor. No commercial logos or symbols, liquor or drug-related designs or materials containing profanities will be allowed.
7) Students will be expected to learn proper use and maintenance of any and all equipment used in the
course of this class. Safety is of prime importance and all students will be expected to follow all regulations
8) Students are required to submit a Project Form prior to beginning work on any projects.
9) Failure to submit a Project Evaluation Form prior to beginning the project lowers the project grade by 50 points.
10) Grading will be based on the total number of points that you earn during this semester divided by the total number of points possible. This percentage will then be compared to the standard grading scale to determine your letter grade. The grade posted in the teacher’s grade-book will be a “running tally” and will represent the total number of points the student has earned to date.
A = 100 to 90 (%) D = 69 to 60 (%)
B = 89 to 80 (%) F = BELOW 60 (%)
C = 79 to 70 (%)

E) Daily Work Requirements
Students are required to have project related work in class each day for the full class period.
Your overall project grade will be calculated by adding together the points you received on each project then dividing that number by the total number of points possible on the projects graded.
Students may recreate any project technique to improve their grade, but will not be
allowed to create additional assignments of alike technique, for extra credit.
Projects assigned in the first 9 weeks can be completed for partial credit in the second 9 weeks of the semester. This will enable a student to improve his/her overall average for that semester.
The grading criteria for this course define a student’s ability to perform these production skills successfully if he/she were in a job-related situation.
F) Make-up Work
You must make up any assignment that you miss within the same number of days that you
were out of school. (Example: If you miss 3 days of school, then within 3 days after

NOTE: THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT OF THE INSTRUCTOR TO LET YOU
KNOW THAT YOU MISSED AN ASSIGNMENT. THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
IF THE ASSIGNMENT IS NOT MADE UP IN THE REQUIRED AMOUNT OF TIME,
THEN YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THAT ASSIGNMENT---THIS INCLUDES
“PROJECT” GRADES.
Students must complete ALL clean up and be seated before dismissal of class.
IN A PRODUCTION LAB IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT ALL APPRENTICES WORK TOGETHER TO CREATE SAFE WORKING CONDITIONS. ANY STUDENT WHO CONTINUALLY DISRUPTS THE DECORUM OF THE LAB OR ALLOWS PERSONAL DIFFERENCES TO EFFECT THEIR PRODUCTIVITY WILL BE REMOVED FOR THAT CLASS HOUR.
