*************************************************************************************************** b) Comment Seaman/4: Questions the relationship between the Basic TEDS fields. They are not related, and could easily be duplicated between manufacturers, with only the manufacturer ID field maintaining the uniqueness. Sentence added to 5.1.1 for explanation. c) Comment Seaman/5: PDF file of the Draft should be book marked for ease of reading. Editor will try to add book marks. d) Comment Rjohnson/06 and Catlin/08: Explanatory text added to 5.1.2.

Working Group Minutes, 1451.4 Telcon, 08-28-03, page 1 of 2 e) Comment Rjohnson/05: The ASCII format for the manufacturer list file in 5.1.1 shall be ISO-646 ASCII-256, CRLF delimited. ISO-646 will be added as a reference. f) Comment Woods-E5: Asks term “node” to be changed. Based on the comment from one of the recent members, that the term “node” caused him no confusion, we decided that “node” will be retained. g) Comment Robinson/3: Contains some good ideas on the administration of manufacturer ID numbers, which will be adopted into the annex.

3) Generic Memory: a) G. Raj is writing an XML description of generic memory, which will complete the needs for generic memory.

Extended Functionality: a) J. Baekke and C. Lopez have included changes in some of the templates, to allow extended functions to operate. J. Baekke reports that the template changes are minor. D. Potter reports that some templates have not yet been modified. C. Lopez is completing work on the syntax needed for extended functions.

4) Dallas License: a) Rules for IEEE Standards Working Groups prohibit the discussion of patent licenses in the meeting. These discussions are to be between individual parties and not to involve IEEE. The feeling of the Chair is that the IEEE rule, along with the offer made by Dallas/Maxim, is sufficient to answer the comments from the 1st ballot, on the question of licensing.

5) Minutes: a) May 2003 Minutes approved. Secretary will place on approved minutes website.

7) New Business: a) Sensors Expo, Anaheim Convention Center, Sept 22-25, 2003: On Tuesday, Sept 23, the 2:30 pm session will feature 12 papers on all phases of the 1451Family. The morning session will include a presentation by J. Wiczer on Smart Sensors. A 1451 Pavilion will be included on the show floor.

8) Next Meeting: a) Next meeting: Thursday Sept 4, 2003. 2 pm EDT b) Adjourn: 2:58 pm EDT.
