Dear Haworth Public School Parent/Guardian,

As we approach the close of the first month of the 2016-17 school year, I hope you and your child(ren) have experienced a smooth and enjoyable transition back to school. As we begin to settle back into the routines of school, we wanted to take a moment to provide you with information regarding standardized testing this school year.

New Jersey public schools will administer the PARCC Assessment for the third time in the spring of 2017. This test evaluates students’ performance in English/Language Arts and Mathematics for grades 3 - 11. PARCC is aligned to the New Jersey content standards including skills taught at each grade level, and the district has ensured that the curricula provides students with the optimal learning experiences to succeed on this statewide assessment. In addition, students in Grades 4 and 8 will take the NJ-ASK Science test.

Over the past two years the N.J. Department of Education has made crucial adjustments to the PARCC administration process and structure.These changes have provided the schools with valuable feedback that has been used to inform instruction. Districts now receive individual reports on student progress with information that can guide the students toward improvement with their learning.

The following information will help parents and guardians to gain a better understanding of what is involved with the standardized testing that will be used at Haworth Public School. The various links will provide details regarding the content covered, the dates of testing, the length of testing sessions, the accommodations and accessibility features, and examples of released items and answers.While the information provided is intended to be general and user-friendly in nature, please feel free to call, email, or schedule an appointment with me to discuss any specific questions you may have regarding any of the assessments as they pertain to your child(ren).
