Harvest Festival

A harvest festival will be held at the Village Hall on Tuesday 13thOctoberfrom 9.15 – 9.45 am. All parents are very welcome to attend if you wish.

We will be collecting tinned food for the Homeless in Norfolk – using the Salvation Army to distribute the food. Please send in tinned items of food and non-perishable food by Monday 12thOctober.

Key Stage 2 independence

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged their children into Class 3 and Class 4 on their own. The teachers are still available between 8.35 and 8.50 am if you need to speak to them.

Parking

Thank you to everyone for using the Village Hall Car Park. I understand that it is challenging at the moment getting to and from school, but I still feel the safest place to park is at the Village Hall and walk down to the school. The contractors will endeavour to do their best to keep traffic to a minimum during drop-off and pick-up time. They have secured other areas around the village this week to store equipment in a concerted effort to reduce traffic around the village.

Parent Consultation Evening

Wednesday 21 October – 3.30 to 5.30

Thursday 22 October – 5.00 to 7.00

You will have an opportunity to meet your children’s teacher on Wednesday 21October or Thursday 22 October to discuss how they have settled in to their new class. More information on the evening will be sent out nearer the time.

Tesco and Sainsbury’s Vouchers

A huge thank you to everyone that collected vouchers for the school last year. We have bought goal posts for the school field, footballs, digital cameras, tag rugby belts and lots of lego!

Sam Dowrick / Vice Captain –

Tommy Balderstone

The House Captains are already planning incentives to ensure everyone in the school is a credit to the school, working together and trying their hardest. They will lead a house assembly each week

School Council

The children have been electing representatives from their classes to be on the School Council. This took the form of a formal ballot held in the hall, after the candidates took to the hustings in there classrooms to gain support (in Class 3 & 4). The School Council has a meeting every 2 weeks to discuss items that the children raise from theirclass councils. During a class discussion, the class may think that, for example, an extra bin should be placed near the field to reduce litter. It is then the School Council representatives’ responsibility to raise this at the next School Council meeting. The School Council then decide what action can be taken.

The School Council members are as follows:

Officers

Chair Zoe Reeve

Vice Chair Millie Durant

Secretary Leah Martin

Treasurer Tommy Balderstone

Eco-Warrior Thomas Ling

Eco-Warrior Sam Walpole

As ever, we really appreciate your help and support. Another bumper newsletter, which I hope gets you up-to-date with all the latest things going on in school. The school hall and kitchen / servery have almost finished their transformation over the Summer holiday, just a few outstanding items to get finished off and then it will have completed its overhaul.

If you have any queries about any item in this newsletter or any other school matter, please don't hesitate to contact us.
