Happy New Year, (fill in name)!

How about some extra money towards your cheerleading program?! Perhaps the girls need help purchasing uniforms or equipment? Maybe there are competition costs that need to be covered? Or a great pizza party for the cheer team would be fun! Plato’s Closet is giving your team the chance to win $250 (and have tons of fun in the process)!

Never heard of Plato’s Closet? Well, I’ll guarantee your cheer team has! We are a resale store specializing in teen apparel and accessories. We only carry the hottest brands and styles.

We’re sponsoring a contest this winter that is a great opportunity for both of us: The best display designed by high school cheerleaders WINS! The display will be in our store (not the school). Cheerleaders from other schools in our area will be participating too.

The program is simple…

PRIZE: In addition to the $250 PRIZE, the winning display will likely be featured on the Plato’s Closet website and of course BRAGGING RIGHTS for your school! Your school newspaper will probably want to cover your participation, too, to help motivate students to come vote for your display!

DISPLAYS:  All the clothing in the displays must be from our store.  Your team can provide any props or banners they would like to use. You’ll get everything back when the contest is over.  The displays need to be put up between February 16-18 (plan on about 2 hours – depending on how much advance preparation and thought was done).  Displays should o Feature one of these themes: . St. Patrick’s Day . Spring (or Spring Break) . Selling to the store (first to sign up gets first pick of theme!) o Feature lots of head to toe apparel layering o Apply to both guys and girls  Let us know when you’re coming to set up the display. The Plato’s Closet staff will be happy to help with any suggestions, but we want your team’s creativity to shine!  You’re welcome to scout out the store, in advance, for inspiration and ideas. And when you commit to the contest, we’ll email you photos of displays to get your creative juices flowing.  Choose the clothes and accessories from our store, but bring any supplies you might need.

VOTING:  The display that receives the most votes from our customers wins!  There will be a ballot box for voting between February 19- closing on March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day!).  Anyone who votes, gets $2 in Plato’s Closet cash to spend on their next purchase!  One vote per person per day.

TIPS TO WIN:  Get your students out to vote for your team! We’ll email you a flyer that you can pass and post around school.  Do what ever else you can to spread the word about coming into vote for your school display. Announcements, mentions in your school paper, hanging your own posters at school…it’s all fair game! In fact, if your school has a marketing class or group – see if they will help (great marketing will really boost votes for your school!)  Collaborate with your fashion students/club about your display!  Think resourcefully – if there are clothes or accessories you really want to see in the display, try selling them to the store. If we buy it, you can include the item in the display.

RULES:  No more than 12 students for display set-up.  Only the cheerleaders can work on the display (not to say that you can’t have some in-store sideline coaching from your art department …or fashion merchandising class).  No painting or drilling the walls.  One vote per person per day.  Displays must o Feature a St. Patrick’s Day, Spring (or Spring Break) or “Sell to the store” theme o Feature lots of head to toe apparel layering o Apply to both guys and girls

WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOU PARTICIPATE:  Help -- we’ll mail you flyers to pass or post around school (to get your friends voting).  More help -- we’ll hang signs in our store to encourage people to vote. We may even announce this as part of our radio advertising!  A great experience using important life professional skills such as creativity, resourcefulness and teamwork!  A real world taste of fashion merchandising!  Memory-making: A ton of fun doing something unique and meaningful!
