Green’s Better – A Newton Success Story in the Making

We have exciting news! Newton International School D Ring will be the first school in Doha to launch a Green’s Better Environmental Project. We are working together with a team of experts and enthusiasts to promote Recycling and Environmental Awareness in children. This will include a very new technological approach to encouraging children to develop environmental awareness. Watch out for further details and updates.

Parent School Association

Newton International School D Ring is working towards increasing parental involvement in all areas of the school. We are happy to see that our communications via Wiki space and Class Dojo are making a significant impact on parent and school interaction. We were delighted to meet parents for our termly coffee morning in October. We would now like to develop the community further by creating a Parent School Association. The purpose of which will be to work together on school projects and activities to encourage even greater involvement with parents, the school and local community. We are keen to expand the pupils’ experiences particularly in the area of social responsibility and the environment. We would welcome any parent who is interested in becoming a representative of the association to submit a request via the Reception. Please state your availability with regards to meeting times. We would appreciate notes of interests as soon as possible. We look forward to a successful partnership that will enhance the pupils’ experience at D Ring.

Lost Property

We are facing an increasing battle with lost property and the main cause for concern is that clothing is unlabelled and therefore it is very difficult to return it to its rightful owner. We have limited storage space for all the lost property and would ask for parents’ support in naming and labelling all the children’s items so that they can be returned promptly.

Absences

Academic progress is severely hindered when children miss classes for whatever reason. In order to expect good progress, your child needs to arrive on time, leave at the correct time and attend every day. Any child who is absent for more than 15 days in one school year will jeopardise their place in the new academic year.

Leaving Early

Children are expected to remain in school until 1.30. Any appointments for medical reasons must be given to the office at least 24 hours in advance. Children will not be allowed to leave school early unless this information is provided. It is very disruptive and unsettling for other children if one child is allowed to leave early. If you have a medical appointment and need to collect your child, please go to the receptionist who will arrange for a “Permission to Leave Early” note. This must be handed to security when leaving.

Medical Information

Please ensure that you inform the school of any medical information in relation to your child. Any updated information should be submitted to the class teacher. Please ensure we have your up to date contact information.

Letters Home

Please make sure that you check your child’s bag, daily planner and Class Dojo every day!
