GREENSBURG YMCA JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Child Care Director Job Code: Director Reports to: CEO Revision Date: 06/25/2013 ______Position Summary: Develops, implements, and evaluates high quality YMCA Child Care Programs.

Essential Functions: 1. Oversight of the entire Child Care Department including the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC), School Age Child Care (SACC), traditional summer day camp, Kids Day Out (KDO), child watch, and any other programs/events related to children outside of physical programming (sports, aquatics, and gymnastics). 2. Develops and controls the Child Care Department’s budget. 3. Maintain Keystone Stars Level 3 accreditation in ECLC and following all regulations related to Department of Public Welfare (DPW). 4. Work with the Wellness Director to develop, implement, and evaluate health & wellness programs/initiatives for children enrolled in our childcare programs. 5. Work with the Marketing Department to market the impact of child care programming internally and externally. 6. Work with the Marketing Department to develop, update, and distribute staff and parent/participant newsletters and semiannual handbook. 7. Work with CEO on networking opportunities to advocate for the Y and lead our childcare initiatives throughout our service area to generate program revenue. 8. Develop and implement a tour conversion and engagement plan; routinely evaluate its ability to retain and grow enrollment in the ECLC. 9. Work with the Accounting Director to ensure the operations childcare billing office is efficient and functional. 10. Work with the Facility Property Manager to ensure the operations of our childcare programming areas are safe and clean for participants and staff. 11. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. a. Ensure all child care staff receive mandated reporter training. 12. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 13. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner within 24-48 hours. 14. Oversight of childcare reports. a. Compiles usage statistics. b. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in childcare programs. 15. Visit programs regularly during peak times to ensure high quality and evaluate staff accordingly. 16. Represent the Y in at least one committee and/or organizations outside of the YMCA. 17. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations especially schools, food banks, United Way, child care services, and other organizations as assigned. 18. Serve on the Program committee and any other committees as assigned. 19. Serve as Director on Duty as scheduled. 20. Assist with all fundraising efforts and lead at least two departmentally throughout the year. 21. Work with the Financial Development Director to secure funds from grants, United Way, and the Earned Income Tax Credit program. 22. Acquire and maintain certifications applicable to the position along with the YMCA of the USA Director Certification on a regular basis. 23. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 1. Associates degree in related field or equivalent is highly preferred. 2. One to two years related experience preferred. 3. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens. 4. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.

Physical Demands: Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
