Class Plan “The Introduction” 1:15 pm Alex, Perry, George 5-10 min intro  Welcome to the d.school!  What is the d.school?  What is this class?  What’s up with this space  Save your “how do I get” in questions to the end  Today we are only doing two things: o Pocket version of the class o Class details (including how you get in) 1:30-1:35 ‘Prime’ Wallet project:  We will communicate our core values to you, and show you what the class is about all in one hour.  Draw a wallet cold  Pair up class 1:35-1:55 Wallet Show and Tell  Kick-off (George): Get to know as much as possible about your partner’s wallet experience.  Tell your partner your wallet story / interview you partner to understand their wallet experience needs. 1:50-1:55 Define  (Last 5 Minutes) Interrupt with Mad lib – teams fill out --Goal is to end with a POV (Mad Lib example) (Your Partner) wallet is his/her ______. 1:55-2:15 Sketch and Test (add more detail here)  Draw five different wallet experience ideas to address your POV (10 Minutes)  Test with your partner, get feedback (10 Minutes) 2:15-2:35 Build  Design final wallet  Distribute prototyping materials  Build final wallet  Put final wallet out with Mad lib  Walk around 2:35-2:50 Debrief  How was your final wallet different than your first one? Why?  Play photos of hand drawn “slides” about: Our values (human centered, bias to prototype, mindful of process), and how this class goes beyond 313? (Lead this process; take this process beyond the physical).

Setup Room Tables and chairs facing the “front” of class.

Materials In-Class Heavy (80 lbs) Paper (maybe construction paper too), Tape, Pens, scissors, straws, acetate / transparencies, string, elastic bands, vinyl or cloth pieces, aluminum foil, go for variety of colors, etc. There will be 12 “sets” of prototyping equipment for two to three teams of two to use. The kits should allow for RAPID simple prototyping.

Personnel George, Perry, Alex on introduction, exercise “MC”, and debrief. Coulter and French on exercise. All others welcome to attend and coach / observe
