He married Jane Taylor circa 1620. 4.1.2 Jane Tayor (5923) was born circa 1595. She married John Korkish circa 1620. She died in 1659-60. Her Will records her name as “Jane Taylor alias Korkish”. 4.2 The Children of John Korkish & Jane Taylor Number &Name Type & Birthdate Place/Notes 5635 Henry C 1620 Rushen 5924 Jane C 1622 Rushen 5925 Margaret C 1624 Rushen 5926Ann C 1626Rushen 5927John C 1628 Rushen 5628 Mary C 1630 Rushen 5929 Catherine C 1632 Rushen NOTE: The birth order has not been established but is seem likel that Henry was the eldest son if not the eldest child. He appears to be tho only married child at the death of his mother in 1659-60. 4.2.1 Henry Corkish (5635) was born circa 1620. He married Joney Maddrell circa 1650. He was buried at Rushen on the 11th of January, 1715. His Will mentions his sons John, living in Kent, Henry (Harry) and Richard and his daughter Margaret, who was married to Thomas Gell, and her three children Margery, John and Joney 4.2.1.1 Joney Maddrell (5922) was born circa 1620. She married Henry Corkish circa 1650. She died in the last quarter of 1699. The name of her father has not been identified but her mother appears to have been Jane Corkish. She was mentioned in the Will of her mother–in–law, Jane Taylor, above. Her Will mentions her children Richard, Margaret, Joney and John, her grandson Thomas Watterson, her brother John, a Kathrin Qualtrough and a Chris: Karran. 4.3 The Children of Henry Corkish & Joney Maddrell Number &Name Type & Birthdate Place/Notes 5874 John C 1646Rushen 5641 Joney C 1648 Rushen 5938 Richard C 1650 Rushen 5639 Jane C 1652 Rushen 5640 Margaret C 1654 Rushen 5630 Henry C 1660 Rushen Note: The birth order has not been establshed, It is known that John was alive in 1660. 4.3.1 Henry Corkish (5930) was born circa 1660. He was not mentioned in the Will of his grandmother, Jane Taylor, in February 1659-60, which could imply that he was probably not yet born. Alternatively if he was the eldest son and presumed heir of the family farm no separate provision would be made in the Will. A marriage has not yet been identified but he is thought to have had at least one son. He is known to have farmed at Surby Moar, to have married (though the name of his wife has not yet been determined) and to have had at least one son, John (1076). He died in 1759 and was buried on the 2nd of September at Rushen. 4.5 The Children of Henry Corkish & … NUmber &Name Type & Birthdate Place/Notes 1076 John C 1700 Rushen 5989 Joney C 1705 Rushen 4.5.1 John Corkish (1076) was born in the parish of Rushen circa 1700, He married Isabel Costain (1078) on the 16th of December, 1732 at Rushen. This was a second marriage for Isabel. Of the seven children born to this marriage, only one, Henry, survived to adulthood. John died in 1775 and was buried at Rushen on the 27th of August. 4.5.2 Isabel Costain (1078) was born in approximately 1710, probably in Arbory. She was the daughter of William Costain (1077) a farmer of Ballachrink, Arbory. She married firstly Henry Lowey (1122) and secondly John Corkish on the 16th of December, 1732, at Rushen. She died in 1747 and was buried on the 3rd of May at Rushen. 4.6 The Children of John Corkish & Isabel Costain Number &Name Type & Birth date Place/Notes 1079 Patrick C 1731 Rushen. Died 1760 4.6.1 Patrick Corkish (1079) was born in approximately 1731 He died in 1733 and was buried at Rushen on the 14th of November. 4.6.2 Catherine Corkish (1080) was baptized on the 4th of November, 1733, at Rushen. She was buried at Rushen on 4th of January, 1742. 4.6.3 Henry Corkish (1081) was baptized on the 9th of November, 1735, at Rushen. Harry died of smallpox and was buried at Rushen on the 15th of August, 1741. 4.6.4 Ann Corkish (1082) was baptized on the 9th of April, 1737, at Rushen. A burial is recorded at Rushen on the 24th of July, 1740, for “Richard, infant, son of John”. 4.6.6 Henry Corkish (244) was baptized on the 7th of February, 1741-2 at Rushen. He married Margery Bell on the 18th of August, 1771, at Rushen. He died in 1822 and was buried at Rushen on the 17th of October. 4.6.6.1 Margery Bell (245) was baptized on the 16th of April, 1749, at Malew, the daughter of John Bell and Bahee Bridson. She married Henry Corkish on the 18th of August, 1771, at Rushen. Margery died in 1836 and is buried at Onchan where her age is given as eighty-seven. 4.6.7 Ann Corkish (1084)was baptized on the 9th of March, 1745, at Rushen. He died in infancy and was buried on the 11th of November, 1772, at Rushen. 4.7.2 Patrick Corkish (256)was baptized on the 29th of September, 1773, at Rushen. He died in infancy and was buried on the 16th of July, 1794, at Rushen. 4.7.3 Henry Corkish (257)was baptized on the 6th of March, 1776, at Rushen. He died in infancy and was buried on the 17th of April, 1776, at Rushen. 4.7.4 Christopher Corkish (258)was baptized on the 11th of May, 1777, at Rushen. At the 1851 census he was farming eight acres at Surby. He married firstly Esther Shimmin on the 3rd of December, 1805, at Rushen, and secondly Catherine Harrison on the 31 of October, 1837, at Rushen. He died in 1855 and was buried on the 30th of June at Rushen. See Volume IV for further details. 4.7.5 Jane Corkish (259)was baptized on the 12th of March, 1780, at Rushen. She married John Costean on the 23rd of August, 1800, at Arbory. She died in 1846 and was buried on the 20th of June at Arbory when her age was given as sixty-six years. See Volume IV for further details. 4.7.6 Margaret Corkish (260)was baptized on the 15th of December, 1782, at Rushen. She married John Woods on the 21 of September, 1809, at Rushen. The census of 1851 shows her as a widow aged sixty-seven years, living in School Lane, Castletown, on parish relief. She was buried on the 14th of May, 1854, at Arbory when her age was given as seventy-one years. See Volume IV for further details. 4.7.7 William Corkish (212) was baptized at Rushen Parish Church on the 23rd of November, 1788. He was a miner and married twice; first to Margaret Parks on the 18th of August, 1810, at Malew, and secondly to Isabella Simpson on the 4th of September, 1841, at Santan. He died in 1853 and was buried on the 28th of April at Rushen. Sometime between 1816 and 1821 the family moved to the parish of Marown and it was here in 1833 that Margaret died. She was buried at Marown on the 26th of December. William Corkish, of the parish of Marown, was married for the second time on the 4th of September, 1841 at Santan Church to Isabella Simpson.
