Last year the proceeds were awarded to six nonprofit organizations. Here is what two of them had to say about the grants. Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico “The Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico is grateful to have been a grant recipient of the Concours du Soleil event. The $7,000 grant we received was helpful in Jerrald J. Roehl providing critical financial assistance to families whose children are battling cancer in KC Roehl New Mexico. Albuquerque has the only cancer treatment centers for children in the Sate of New Mexico. No matter where a child is diagnosed or lives, children in New Mexico must travel to Albuquerque for treatments. Clinic visits and overnight stays are continually required by families already emotionally and financially burdened by this terrible disease. During the epic 1988 season, Team Principal Ron Dennis and Technical Director Gordon Murray began thinking about the idea of a McLaren road car. In 1993 the influential McLaren F1 was launched. Two years later, the F1 GTR dominated at Le Mans, turning the greatest supercar of its generation into the most successful British race car of modern times. McLaren then pioneered the carbon monocoque in the McLaren F1, it took 3,000 hours to make each carbon fiber chassis. It now takes just four hours to create the carbon MonoCell of the 12C.
