Pass Routes 1. In Route – Run a straight path and turn towards the middle of field to receive the pass. 2. Out Route – Run a straight path and turn away from the middle of field to receive the pass. 3. Slant Route – Run a straight path and then run a diagonal path looking to receive the pass. 4. Go Route – Run a path straight out from where the receiver lines up. 5. Drag Route – Run a path straight out & then across the field. Offensive Positions & Responsibilities 1. Quarterback – Calls plays & is responsible for moving the ball by passing or handing off. 2. Center – Responsible for hiking the ball to Quarterback then blocking for the quarterback. 3. Wide Receiver – Responsible for knowing the pass routes and catching the ball. 4. Running Back- Responsible for running the ball, blocking for the Quarterback, and catching short passes. Defensive Positions & Responsibilities 1. Linebacker – Responsible for shadowing the Quarterback to help stop the run or pass up the middle of the field. 2. Safety – Responsible for defending long passes or runs to prevent a touchdown. 3. Cornerback – Responsible for defending the wide receivers. .
