I hope to write more about this discovery in a later edition of the Newsletter. And as I write now a ‘Battlefield Tour 2017’ is being organized by Dave Stewart for next year. We hope to visit Zeeland in the Netherlands, as ‘Walcheren’, you will recall, is one of the Squadron’s Battle Honours from 1944 yet is very much a forgotten battle for many historians. While researching Dave has found the grave of a 33 Sqn pilot buried in a local cemetery, one of the three pilots who were No 33 Squadron’s Standard, with Battle Honours shot down on the same day, and we plan to lay a emblazoned. wreath there during the visit.
