Extensive damage from the Blitz was fully restored by Marshall Sissons, with the church re-opening as a concert hall in 1969. With its superb acoustic restored, St John’s quickly became a favourite of luminaries Pierre Boulez and Daniel Barenboim. Discover more on Page 106.
