2012 The story our founder is as long as it is colorful. One of California’s first sheriffs, Agoston Haraszthy was elected the Sheriff of San Diego County in 1850. He built the first jail and served two exciting years before moving north to pursue “purple gold” and the perfect terroir for fine wines. He found it in Sonoma County where he established Buena Vista Winery in 1857. It is his legacy that inspired this wine and the work of sheriffs everywhere that we honor with its release. Buena Vista Legendary Badge is a powerful wine, brimming with personality. It’s authoritative and loyal, a bold combination of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvédre, Grenache and Merlot. Like the men and women who are elected to serve their counties, our wine displays a robust magnetism that commands a room (or dinner table) and bridges the gap between traditional and extraordinary. Ripe red fruits abound, dominating the palate while integrated tannins provide great structure and offer an arrestingly vigorous mouthfeel. Alcohol: 14.5% pH: 3.65 While our wine calls Sonoma County its home, like any good sheriff, we’ve investigated the most prestigious sub-appellations Total Acidity: 5.7 of the county – scouring the vineyards of the Russian River Varietals: 39% Petite Sirah, Valley, Carneros and Sonoma Valley– in an effort to bring the 29% Syrah, 14% Cabernet best possible fruit available under our lock and key. Petite Sirah Sauvignon, 8% Mourvédre, 5% from the McMinn Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, Syrah from the Schroeder Vineyard in Carneros, Cabernet from Grenache & 5% Merlot prestigious vineyards in Sonoma Valley, including the Monte Appellation: Sonoma County Rosso Vineyard, all blend harmoniously with Dry Creek Valley Mourvédre and Grenache from Sonoma Valley’s Haas Vineyard. .
