Parents can access these through the Parent Portal. A College Sport Wellington App is available. CSW runs much of the sport Onslow is involved in, plus the app also contains draws for both Netball Wellington & Wellington Hockey. It is freely available through both Ap- ple App & Google Play stores and gives everyone immediate up-to-date sports draw and result information. Sporting Achievements During the course of the year there are a number of occasions where the school recognises and applauds the sporting achievements of its students. The Physical Education and Sports Departments often hear of such success but there are some students who reach representative status outside of the co-curricular sports pro- gramme that we aren’t aware of. Please tell us about these achievements by emailing the sports office [email protected] Communication Students are encouraged to discuss any sports issues (such as defaults and deferrals) in a timely manner with the Sports Office as they have a responsibility to their own team members, the teams they compete against, and the competition organisers. Late advice of defaulted games incur a charge from tournament providers which must be paid by the team concerned. 5 General Information Sports fees will be added to student accounts following registration and can be paid once they appear on your statement. Accounts can be viewed online through the Parent Portal and a statement will be emailed to parents. Once an account is received, please ensure payment is made within two weeks. Onslow College Sport Policy: No payment - No play. Fees and Payment Plans All Sports Fees include a $10 non-refundable registration/admin fee. This administration fee also includes the fee to gain online access to the professional team photographs that will be taken in Term 3. Registration fees assist with the cost of equipment, uniform replacement, first aid, competition entry fees, compulsory officials fees, turf and facility hire charges, photocopying, reimbursement of coach/manager ex- penses, use of facilities and facility upkeep, some transport costs and administration. Additionally, students involved in exchanges and tournaments will pay associated fees and should expect to be involved in fundrais- ing activities to help reduce the costs of these tournaments to families. Please contact the school office if you need to discuss a payment plan or use the Payment Plan form in this booklet which can be returned to the sports office on the first day of school or soon after. Students are asked to think carefully about each sport and the level of commitment that will be required of them. NO REFUNDS will be given after the first week of a sports season unless there are extenuating circumstances. Application for refund should be made to the Sports Office in writing. Payment of Accounts Fees can be paid in the following ways: • By cash/cheque or Eftpos at the school office • By internet banking (Onslow College 12-3174-0265002-00) Details must include the students name, ‘SPORT’, and the sport they are paying for - E.g. Parents of Year 9 students will be invited to join the portal in early January. 6 General Information Winter & Summer Tournaments Teams or individuals may compete in various North Island or National Secondary Schools Tournaments or other events throughout the year. The two main tournament dates are: Summer Tournament Week 30th March - 3rd April 2020 Winter Tournament Week 31st August - 4th September 2020 Senior teams participating in these tournaments will be selected depending upon their level of achievement in local competition and on the expectation that they could gain selection to a national competition. If selected in more than one top team, students may only represent one code during Tournament Week. Team coaches and the Director of Sport must be advised of their decision by 15th May 2020. This may re- quire the student stepping down from one team in order to allow the tournament team to train together. NOTE: To participate in either of these tournaments, students will be required to pay extra costs for travel, accommodation, food and entry fees, these must be paid PRIOR the tournament commences or the student will be unable to attend. It is expected that students will be involved in fundraising. Junior Triangular Exchange Onslow competes in an annual exchange with Tawa and Newlands Colleges for the McDonald’s Cup. Junior teams (Year 9 and 10), are chosen for this event in the following codes: Football, Basketball, Netball, Rugby, Cross Country, Hockey (6-aside) and Badminton. The exchange is hosted by Onslow College every third year. The exchange will take place on Tuesday 5th May. Parents are welcome to attend the exchange which will be hosted by Newlands College in 2020. CSW Tournaments Throughout the year CSW runs one or two day tournaments for most sports that have a weekly competition (e.g. volleyball, netball, badminton etc). In most cases, these are for the top junior and senior teams.
