Visit the new Hassan II Mosque. Then drive to Rabat, the first of the Imperial cities that you will visit and the administrative capital of Morocco. Accommodation: Sofitel Rabat Jardin des Roses Meals: Dinner DAY 02 - 04 MAR (WED) - RABAT | CHEFCHAOUEN This early morning, we visit the Hassan Tower & Mohammed V Mausoleum and Chellah Kasbah. In the afternoon, we arrive in the white and blue city of Chefchaouen, one of the most beautiful cities of Morocco in the feet of Rif Mountains, influenced by Andalousian art and traditions. Enjoy a walk to explore the white and blue washed walls of the medina and the markets which offer some unique native handicrafts. Chefchaouen is a fantastic destination for photography with its wonderful views of the Rif Mountains. Accommodation: Lina Riad Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 03 - 05 MAR (THU) - CHEFCHAOUEN This morning, we go for a stroll next to catch sight of the women doing laundry (clothes and carpet). Also see how the hydraulic mills are still at work today. This interesting walk takes us to the Rif Sebbanin, the laundry district, with the Seat of Sebbanin and its mosque of century XV. This afternoon, visit the Kashbah Museum (built in the 15th century and was completed in the 17th century) with its Andalusian architectural style, followed by a visit to the Ethnographic Museum, which houses a collection of pottery, armour, embroidery and musical instruments. Enjoy an impressive view of the city at the towers before we return to the city center and spend some free time soaking in the ambience of the “Blue city”. The Atlas Mountains in the background add to the beauty of the setting. The 2nd and 3rd century Roman town of Volubilis is noted for its colorful and interesting mosaics depicting daily life, the capitol and triumphal arch. After lunch, we drive an hour to Meknes, another imperial city with over fifty palaces with almost 30kms of walls and 20 gates. We visit the walled city of Sale and enjoy a walking tour of the Medina. You will visit the most impressive gates, Bab Mansour with its vivid green tiles; the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum and Dar Jamai Museum. Early this evening, we continue past fields of wheat, mint, mimosa and cork trees to Fes. Accommodation: Hotel Sahrai Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 05 - 07 MAR (SAT) - FES Enjoy a full day guided tour of Fes. Founded in 807, Fes is the most ancient of the Imperial cities and is considered to be the most complete medieval city of the Arab world. It is a unique and remarkable place that stimulates all your senses, with haunting and beautiful sounds, visual richness, and wafting smells - suspended in time between the middle Ages and today. The exploration includes the Fes el Bali (Old Fes) with its palaces, mosques and madrasas (Koran schools). Visit the large Kairaouine mosque, other than being the holiest and 2nd largest mosque in Morocco, it is also one of the oldest universities in the world; the 14th century Medersa Bou Inania noted for its Koranic scripture in stucco, intricately carved wood and colorful tiles; Dar Batha Museum, an excellent collection of traditional Moroccan Arts & Crafts; Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts and of course not missing the sight and “smell” of the Tanneries. We end the day with a panoramic view of the Medina from an ancient hill-top guard post of Borj Nord. Upon arrival, you will switch to 4WD and drive 1 hour to the oasis town – Erfoud. Enjoy a tea break with a local family. Drive towards the desert, we will see remains of the underground water pipes. This used to be an important facility for agriculture in the desert. Embark on an exciting journey through dunes to the Desert Camp exclusively for our group. Enjoy a tea ceremony upon arrival before you depart for sunset walk on the spectacular dune of Sahara Desert. Return to enjoy Berber style dinner on top of sand dune. Tonight, you will enjoy star gazing from Sahara Desert. In the late morning we drive 2 hours on 4WD back to Errachidia, en-route visiting Ksar Maadid, the biggest ksar in Erfoud. Ksar is a traditional residential complex. The interior is divided into small cells and a lot of families live in the same building. We also visit the souk in the center of Erfoud. Shop for the best dates ( biggest and the sweetest) in Morocco. Take a 50 minutes charter plane to Marrakech airport and drive 1 hour to Richard Branson property – Kasbah Tamadot. Immerse yourself in this luxury Kasbah retreat with the Atlas Mountain as your backdrops. Accommodation: Kasbah Tamadot Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner DAY 08 - 10 MAR (TUE) - IMLIL This morning we walk through the village of Mzik, hidden away around to the West. The views of Imlil and the terraces are beautiful from here. Take the road you can see winding up the valley opposite the Kasbah through Tansghart, the village directly opposite Kasbah, and on to Imsker. Go for tea in a traditional Berber house in this fabulous and remote village before coming back on the same route. The views are fantastic, the village is magical and it is a real insight into the lives of the local people. This afternoon, indulge in this beautiful retreat. You may want to try their traditional Moroccan Hammam or other spa treatment (with additional charges). Accommodation: Kasbah Tamadot Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner DAY 09 - 11 MAR (WED) - IMLIL | MARRAKECH After a leisure morning, we head for Marrakech, positioned in the shadows of the High Atlas Mountains and blessed with a perfect climate, Marrakech, founded in 1062, was twice the capital of Morocco and evidence remains of its historical significance. Before checking in at the hotel, we visit a beautiful garden, “Majorelle Garden”, filled with rare plants, bright colors and peace.
