April 13, 2016 Volume XXII Hawk Issue 13 Happenings A Publication of Hamburg Area High School, Windsor Street, Hamburg, PA 19526 Coach Spotlight on Coach Zimmerman Ryan Smith – 12 Coach Zimmerman has been coaching Hamburg Sports for years. In fact, he has been coaching Girls Softball for 16 years and has built the program up from where it started. In his time coaching the Girls Softball team Coach Zimmerman has compiled 167 wins, averaging just over eleven wins a season with a .592 win ratio. He has led the girls to a 2010 county championship under star pitcher Tara Klee in her freshman year and numerous top division finishes. When Miranda Shollenberger was asked about her coach she was quoted saying “I like him as a coach, he knows Science Olympiad what he is talking about and helps the team a lot”. Overall, his time has led the girls Softball team to the most wins of any Annie Crider – 12 coach in Hamburg history and continues to push the team to greatness. In boys Golf Coach Zimmerman also pursues greatness for his team. In his 11 seasons On March 9, Hamburg’s Science Olympiad team participated in their annual competition. as the golf coach, he has 121 wins and compiled a .674 win ratio for the team. The Hamburg Area High School has a guitar class, which uses Martin’s Guitars. International Guitar Month is celebrated in April of every year to honor the creation of guitars. Many songs today have the guitar playing in the background. One can celebrate the month by learning to play a guitar, learn how one is made, or listen to music with the guitar as the main instrument.
