The Suozzi’s moved to Glen Cove shortly after Suozzi arrived with his mother, when his father became a caretaker at the North Shore Mansion of Isabel Doge Sloane in Lattingtown, where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. Suozzi attended St. Patrick’s Grade School in Glen Cove and St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay. Asked what his goal was for his high school year book, Suozzi responded that he wanted to be a “real American.” Suozzi attend Fordham University School of Education in the Woolworth Building in Downtown New York in 1939 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1943. While at Fordham, he volunteered as an Aviation Air Cadet. Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force, during World Joseph A. Suozzi, a former mayor of War II, serving with distinction.
