Details about new Immigration Check Posts along Indo-Maynmar Border: • Indian Government has designated Zorinpuiland check post in Lawngtlai district of Mizoram as an authorised immigration check post for entry into or exit from India with valid travel documents for all classes of passengers to or from Myanmar. • An agreement on Zorinpui was included in the joint statement issued during the visit of the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Myanmar in May, 2012. • It is to be noted that India shares a 1,643-km-long border with Myanmar which touches Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. L&T Infotech bags $100-mn Government contract to nab tax evaders L&T Infotech, the infotech arm of engineering giant Larsen & Toubro has bagged $ 100-mn Government contract for an initiative to use social media analytics to identify tax non- compliance. ‘No helmet, no petrol’ rule comes into force in Andhra Pradesh On 28th September 2017, ‘No helmet, no petrol’ rule for two wheelers came to act in Andhra Pradesh. i. ‘No helmet, no petrol’ rule prohibits petrol supply to two wheeler riders without helmet. ii. Mr.Chandrababu Naidu has sanctioned Rs.10 crore for implementation of this rule. All cities and towns in five more States declared Open Defecation Free On October 2, 2017, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri announced that five more States viz., Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand and Haryana have reached the milestone of making all cities and towns Open Defecation Free. It is to be noted that On October 2, 2017, ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ completed three years. Overview of Progress towards ‘Swacchata’ in urban areas: i. India unveils third National Wildlife Action Plan for 2017-2031 On October 2, 2017, Union Environment Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan unveiled India’s third National Wildlife Action Plan for 2017-2031, which outlines the future road map for wildlife conservation across the country. The plan was unveiled on the inaugural day of the Global Wildlife Programme (GWP) conference in New Delhi, which is jointly hosted by India, World Bank and United Nations Development Programme. Background Information about National Wildlife Action Plan for 2017-2031: This is the third National Wildlife Action Plan which comes after the first plan in 1983 and second plan from 2002 – 2016. It was drafted by a 12-member committee chaired by JC Kala (former secretary to the ministry) and was initiated in February 2016 by Union Environment Ministry. Odisha government creating land bank for industrial allocation Odisha State Government is creating a 1.2 lakh acre land bank across the state which will be allocated for industrial use and purposes.
