The 25-game, seven-day event will run from July 5th through the 10th on the practice court at the Amway Center in Orlando. The event is closed to the public. Each team will play five games throughout the week, with a championship day being played on the final day of the league. Championship Day seeding will be determined using a points system based on results from the first six days of Summer League competition. Four points will be awarded for a win, with one point being awarded for each quarter won. In the event that teams tie in a quarter, each team will receive 0.5 points. The tiebreakers, for seeding purposes, are, in order: total point differential and total points allowed. A coin flip will serve as the third tiebreaker. 2016 SOUTHWEST AIRLINES ORLANDO PRO SUMMER LEAGUE RULES • Four 10-minute quarters • Eight-minute halftime • Two full timeouts per half, one full timeout in overtime • Two one-minute mandatory TV timeouts per half on dead ball at 5:59 and again at 2:59 • Two-minute overtime period if necessary • Teams will be in the penalty on the 10th team foul of each quarter or second in the last 2:00 • Teams will be in the penalty in overtime on the second team foul • Players foul out on 10th foul • 10-minute warm-up/Intermission between games • “Advance” Rule in place for last 2 minutes of game & overtime • The second overtime period is a ‘modified’ sudden death. Each team will be guaranteed one possession in the sudden death period. For example: if Team A wins the tip and scores two points, the game will continue and Team B will possess the ball with a chance to do the following: -Score two points (game is now tied and continues to sudden death) -Score three points (team B wins the game outright) -Not score and the possession concludes with a defensive rebound, offensive foul, or turnover, in which case Team A wins and the game is over. ………… … …OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER SUMMER LEAGUE COACHING STAFF … …. Mark Daigneault Summer League Head Coach Mark Daigneault (DAYG-nalt) enters his third season as head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue and he is set to make his debut as head coach of the Thunder’s summer league squad. The Blue posted a 19-31 record in 2015-16 and led the NBA D-League in rebounding with 48.1 boards a game. Daigneault joined Billy Donovan’s Thunder coaching staff midseason on Feb. 17 in place of Thunder assistant Maurice Cheeks, who was sidelined for six weeks due to hip surgery. Daigneault remained with the Thunder for the conclusion of the 2015-16 season and entirety of the Thunder’s postseason run to the Western Conference Finals. In his first season at the helm of the Thunder’s NBA D-League team, Daigneault led the Blue to a 28-22 record and an appearance in the NBADL Western Conference Semifinals. Under his watch the past two seasons, the Blue has seen three players called up to NBA rosters (Josh Huestis, Dwight Buycks and Reggie Williams) and four Thunder players assigned (Grant Jerrett, Josh Huestis, Mitch McGary and Cameron Payne). Daigneault came to Oklahoma City after spending his previous four years working under Donovan at the University of Florida, where he most recently held the position of Assistant to the Head Coach. Throughout his four years at Florida, the Gators totaled a record of 120-30 (.800), won three SEC titles and advanced to the Elite Eight each year. In his final season with UF (2013-14), the Gators became the first SEC team to go 18-0 in conference play and went on to win the SEC Championship and advance to the Final Four. Prior to his time at Florida, Daigneault spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Holy Cross. During Daigneault’s tenure, the Crusaders finished as runner-up of the Patriot League Championship in 2008-09. A 2007 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Daigneault served as a student manager with the Huskies under Jim Calhoun from 2003-07. While at UCONN, the Huskies won the 2004 NCAA Championship and claimed three Big East titles, posting a combined record of 103-32 (.763).A native of Leominster, Mass., Daigneault holds a master’s degree in sports management from the University of Florida. Summer Fun: The Oklahoma City Thunder is set to once again return to Central Florida for the 2016 Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League. Oklahoma City’s 2016 summer league squad features Thunder roster players Josh Huestis, Mitch McGary and Cameron Payne, Additionally, the Thunder’s summer league roster includes Semaj Christon, Dakari Johnson, Marcus Lewis, Boubacar Moungoro, Richard Solomon, Reggie Williams, Kameron Woods and Tomislav Zubcic, all of which have previous experience with the Thunder’s development team, the Oklahoma City Blue. Daniel Hamilton, the 56th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, will also compete for Oklahoma City. 2015-16 Quick Recap: The Oklahoma City Thunder enters Orlando Summer League competition just weeks after advancing to the Western Conference Finals for the fourth time in the past six season. After defeating the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs in the opening two rounds of the playoffs, the Thunder took a 3-1 series lead against the Warriors in the Conference Finals, but ultimately, Golden State prevailed after securing a Game 7 victory. The Thunder entered the 2016 playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference after finishing the regular season with a record of 55-27. With the Thunder’s opening round series victory over the Mavericks this past postseason, the Thunder advanced to the Conference Semifinals in each of the team’s last five postseason appearances.
