The only certainty at the moment is uncertainty — which is likely to result in a big blow to consumer confidence, not just in Europe but potentially world- wide. The concern is that the upheaval associated with the U.K.’s departure from the EU will cause consumers to pull back even more on spending, contributing further to the slowdown that has already hit retailers and fashion groups.
