The 2004 Lady Saints put together a 2 record of 13-4 including a regular season CVAC Championship and a trip to the National Semifinals in Orlando. Limestone finished the year with their highest national 0 ranking, checking in at 3rd. The College has raised the bar with its first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance while setting all-time highs with 13 wins and 234 goals, and the 2005 squad is very capable of pushing it 0 further. The Lady Saints garnered numerous accolades for their performance last season. Head 5 Coach Scott Tucker was named CVAC Coach of the Year. Michelle Lare got the nod for IWLCA Defender of the Year. Lare, Pam Gateau, and Meghan Dennehy were awarded All-American Honors. That trio rewrote the Limestone record book with their performance last season. Dennehy shattered her own record for goals in a season (45 in ’03) with 58. Dennehy also set new marks for career goals (151) and points (191). Gateau set single season records with 91 points and 40 assists, and Lare set the career mark for caused turnovers with 119. O After a tremendous year, the Lady Saints sustained several key losses including all three All- Americans from the 2004 squad. In addition, Limestone will miss the play of Maria Humphries who scored 40 goals and earned womenlacrosse.com All-American honors as well as Summer Ferraro, the reigning CVAC Freshman of the Year, who sustained a season ending knee injury in U the fall. One might look at those losses and dub 2005 a “rebuilding year.” However, Tucker believes that this year’s squad has the talent to win a CVAC Championship and be back in the middle of the T national picture. Michelle Lare will continue to guide the defense, not on the field, but from the sidelines. Lare was hired as assistant coach in June of 2004. Her knowledge of the game and of Limestone College will continue to be a great asset for the Lady Saints. L Tucker and Lare have brought in an outstanding recruiting class highlighted by freshman midfielder Marissa Pesce, freshman attacker Andrea Poor and senior transfer Judy Ranns. “We have a great combination of quickness and talent in our recruiting class that will keep us in the national spotlight O and lead us to a CVAC championship” said Tucker. “Our fate this season will come down to how quickly our young team will come together. I am very pleased with how fall ball went and look forward to continued O success this season in the conference and in the nation.” Limestone Lacrosse has been successful for several K years now. The Lady Saints will not rest on the accomplishments of last season. They want to continue to raise the bar as Limestone College Women’s Lacrosse garners more and more national attention. 3 SAINTS LACROSSE 2005 ROSTER LIMESTONE COLLEGE SAINTS BY POSITION Attack (5): Aricka Piersma, Andrea Poor, Susie Russell, Tana Strout, Jessica Verran: Midfield (5): Claire Austin, Shannon Nolan, Brooke Nowell, Marissa Pesce, Judy Ranns: Defense (8): Kristen Black, Jean Bradley, Lauren Crostic, Erica Handleman, Jennifer Hester, Brianne Kristina Miles, Rachel Moreland, Caroline Pickell: Goal (3): Alison Anaya, Erin Cavanaugh, Jackie Weaver.
