Deadline to Register for There are several big scholarship applications due at the end PSAT 9 & PSAT 10 of this month, including Hawaii Community Foundation. Paper applications are available and Open House located in the scholarship bin in the CCC. Be sure to complete the FAFSA Fair ASAP! Here are a few tips: Tues. 4/21/20 Create your FSA ID before starting your FAFSA. Students and 8:30 am – 11:30 am parents both need their own FSA IDs. Create your FSA ID 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm online at https://fsaid.ed.gov. Hawaii Convention Center Fill out the FAFSA online at https://fafsa.gov. Be sure you’re filling out the FAFSA for the correct school SAT Prep Workshop year. Since you’ll be entering college in 2020, you should 4/25-26/20 be filling out the 2020-2021 FAFSA form. 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Submit your FAFSA as soon as possible! College Visits College Acceptances & The National Decision Deadline Congratulations to students who have already been accepted to United States Army the colleges they have applied to! Remember, do not make a Wed. 1/29 12:40 pm (pd. 6) decision to attend a college or send in a tuition deposit until you complete your FAFSA and receive a financial aid award letter. Linfield College Athletics Students do not need to make a decision until May 1, 2020 and Thurs. 2/6 1:15 pm (pd. 3) should only submit a tuition deposit to ONE SCHOOL. Please report all college acceptances to Ms. Himuro. University of Hawaii, Hilo (Admitted Students Only) Juniors: Tues. 3/3 1:10 pm (pd. 5) ACT/SAT Tests Northern Arizona University Juniors, you will be taking the ACT at school on February 25, 2020. Tues. 3/24 1:10 pm (pd. 5) You should also register for the SAT at www.sat.org/register. The ACT and SAT are standardized tests that colleges weigh equally University of Colorado and evaluate in the college admissions process when you apply as Colorado Springs a senior. All testing should be finished before the start of your Fri. 4/17 8:45 am (pd. 1) senior year! The University of Melbourne ACT/SAT Prep Mon. 4/20 10:15 am (pd. 5) Test Prep HI will be having Spring Break SAT Prep classes for 4 days (March 16 – 19) from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, a 2-day SAT Prep Marymount California Workshop on March 7 & 8 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and April 25 & 26 University from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, and an ACT Prep Workshop on February Mon. 4/20 1:30 pm (pd. 7) 22 & 23 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Scripps College Tues. 4/21 12:45 pm (pd. 3) Running Start Running Start is a program that allows “eligible” high school Holy Names University students (typically seniors) to take college courses at a University of Mon. 4/27 8:45 am (pd. 1) Hawaii system campus as part of their high school coursework. Students interested in enrolling in Running Start courses for the Fall More colleges to come… Go to moanaluahs.org for more information! Page 2 of 7 2019 semester should see Ms. Himuro in the CCC. The application deadlines for the Fall 2020 semester are as follows: Kapiolani Community College: April 1, 2020 Honolulu Community College: May 1, 2020 Leeward Community College: May 1, 2020 Freshmen & Sophomores: Pre-ACT Grade 9 & 10 students may register to take the Pre-ACT, which will be administered on Tuesday, February 25th. The Pre-ACT provides students with the opportunity to practice for the ACT test, as well as a full view of college and career readiness. This test also identifies areas of strength and improvement, to increase chance of success in the Grade 11 ACT. If you would like to take the Pre-ACT, please register in the College & Career Center by Wednesday, January 22nd. PSAT 9 & PSAT 10 Freshmen and Sophomores are invited to sign up for the PSAT 9 or PSAT 10, which will be held on Friday, March 13th. The cost of the PSAT 9 is $12 and the PSAT 10 is $17. We will be accepting CASH or CHECKS payable to Moanalua High School. Please come to the College & Career Center to register for the test by Wednesday, January 22nd. Other Important Announcements Intro to College Financial Aid The Hawaii Association for College Admission Counseling will be hosting an Intro to College Financial Aid event on Wednesday, January 22nd from 5:15 pm to 7:15 pm at Mililani Public Library. This FREE workshop is suitable for high school students and their families. Younger students and their families are also welcome to attend. “Intro to College Financial Aid: Understanding the basics to make informed financial decisions about college” is a community presentation to inform students and their families about financial aid for college. Hawaii Medical College Open House Hawaii Medical College is having an Open House for all prospective students enrolling in 2020. Learn about the different programs offered at Hawaii Medical College and the career opportunities that await you upon graduation. The event will be held on Saturday, January 25th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. For more information please call (808)237-5140. Every year, Reed seeks a class of intelligent, curious, community-minded students to join their distinctive liberal arts college in Portland, Oregon. Students who apply for the Junior Scholars Program live in the United States and are from a historically underrepresented racial or ethnic background. The Junior Scholars Program welcomes highly qualified students to: stay on campus in a residence hall; visit classes in any of their majors and programs; attend a Reed information session and tour; and engage with faculty, staff, and current Reed students. The Junior Scholars Program is all-expenses- paid, including travel. Students admitted to the program are able to visit between February 18 and March 19.
