He could be whizzing in a bucket over his should2r and the kids would love it. As noted in several comments this week, those Sabbath classics are new songs to many of today's tecns and are bourd to stimulate whatever brain-cells remain in 25+ fans. L)ve the do. Chain Reaction J. GEILS BAND, "SHOwTImE"._ EM! It's a bit early to put the new Lp in a leagu2 with "Full House", but 114 adds and tons of accolades tell us programmers will go to the wall to ma<e this party special a classic...Les Cook, WILS-FM, "Rousing renditions of Geils classics that sh)uld bring fans flocking into the stores. We can program anything on the record. Our listeners want it bad"...Jack Daniels, WROQ, "One of the best produced live albums I've heard this year. They have such a party image, they can get away with about anything"... Paul Lemieux, WCOZ, "The J. Geils Band 'Showtime' exudes their live raw power from its first groove to its last. Should be a Christmas mo-fo saleswise and get massive airplay well into '83"...Bob Bittens, WHCN, "Few performers put out more energy and rarely does a live album come as close to putting that energy on vinyl as does 'Showtime"...Mark Miller, W4CK, "The band got more sound quality on that outdoor stage than most bands can get in the studio. 'Showtime' is the state of the art"...Ilyse Gottlieb, WRXL, "Isn't it rewarding to see the success of such hard working perfectionists. I'm thrilled with the album"... Jack Silver, KSFE, "Growing up on the north side of Chicago, the biggest party album in the neighborhood was Full House'. Now, two live Lps later, 'Showtime' ought to do the same for today's party crowd"... Trax: "I Do", 'Just Can't Wait", "Love Stinks" and "Land Of 1,000 Dances". NIGHT RANGER, BOARDWALK With all the trendrock hitting the airwaves, radio is thrilled to get behind this straight forward, hard chargingformula blockbuster. 44 stations jump in with both feet for #2 Most Added...Radio: Ron mtnnl, WOVE, "The record of the week is Night Ranger. It's not just a fly-by-night one cut band. This album has depth'...Dave Krusenklaus, WKQQ, "Wm are these guys? Where in the hell have they been? Obviously they have been studying formula rock techniqu2. I'm happy to say that we'll join the midwestern avalanche and flow with this record out-of-the-box"...Mike Lyons, WDIZ, "Night Ranger sounds like a combination of Deep Purple and Loverboy and helps fill a hard rock void"...Gloria Johnson, KGON, "Night Ranger's got the goods. Brad Gillis' guitar almost growls and 'Don't Tell Me You Love Me' has a clean exciting sound that jumps out"...Rob Roman, KLAQ, "A real nice clean sound. It fills the need for every rock and roller's diet. Well-produced and sounds great on the radio"...Ted Burton Jacobsen, KKRQ, "The Night Ranger record can't be denied. Simply put, a musically sound rock and roll effort. A joy to the ear" .....Don't Tell Me You Love Me" is out front with "Sing Me Away" right behind. Up a corresponding 46-33 Metro...#3 Most Added with 20 including: WCOZ, KOME, WMET, KLOS, WGRQ, KYYS...Comments: Bruce Goldsen, WRKI, "Based on the strength of MTV play and requests Adam Ant moves to heavy this week"... Bill Weston, WGRQ, "It's the Ant invasion in 3uffalo. Adam Ant right now is as big as those hugh 6-legged mutants in the old sci-fi flicks. MTV can be credited for starting this runaway snowball. Nearly top 10 sales with nrnimal airplay. 'Goody Two Shoes' goes right into heavy at 97ROCK"...Dick Bascom, WQXM, "Adam Ant continues the incredible sales move. "Goody Two Shoes" gains 59-33-16 in the past three weeks. TIPS: SAMMY HAGAR, "YOU LOVE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY", GEFFEN In spite of Sammy's total album acceptance, Fe's not yet had that crunch-o single he needs to put his career in high gear. "Crazy" is that kind of song; it moves, it's nice and utempo, and rocks without that rough edge that so many adult hungry album stations avoid. Should be an automatic. DURAN DURAN, "HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF", CAPITOL Video? MTV? European sales? Sure...but even without all that, this song has the goods. Hooks galore, sexy lyrics, killer chrous, and that increas'ongly important modern rock twist. The remix sounds great, and we applaud Capitol for their timing in gcing after this potential giant.
