( 7 j 3, UNITED NATIONS Treaty Series Treaties and international agreements registered or filed and recorded with the Secretariat of the United Nations CUMULATIVE INDEX No. 1 (Volumes 1 to 100) I: Treaty Nos. 1 to 1:1396 (Registered) II: Treaty Nos. 1 to 288 (Filed and Recorded) / Treaties and International Agreements registered or filed and recorded with the Secretariat of the United Nations INDEX (Volumes) 1 to 100 TABLE OF CONTENTS Note by the Secretariat . v Abbreviations vu Chronological Index 2 General International Agreements 221 Alphabetical Index 261 NOTE BY THE SECRETARIAT This index covers the treaties and international agreements con tained in Volumes 1 to 100 ofthe United Nations Treaty Series. It supersedes the previously published general indexes nos. 1-4. The volume consists ofthe following three sections: The first section, "Chronological Index", arranges the instru ments in the order of the dates on which they were signed or were open to signature or accession. Treaties and international agree ments which revise or amend a previous instrument are also indexed under the date of the previous instrument. The second section is a list of "General International Agree ments". The nature of this category of instruments is explained in a note at the beginning of the section. The third section, "Alphabetical Index", refers to treaties and international agreements by party and subject (see explanatory note on page 263). References Each of the treaties and international agreements included in the United Nations Treaty Series is designated by a roman numeral and an arabic numeral. The roman numeral indicates either Part I or Part II ofthe United Nations Treaty Series. Part I ofthe Treaty Series comprises treaties and international agreements registered with the Secretariat. Part II ofthe Treaty Series comprises treaties and inter national agreements filed and recorded by the Secretariat. The arabic numeral indicates the number of the treaty or international agreement within the respective part of the Treaty Series. For example, "1:3" indicates that the instrument is No. 3 in Part I of the Treaty Series. Treaties in the League of Nations Treaty Series are indicated by the symbol "LoN" followed by its number; for example: LoN 4587. v References to volume numbers in the United Nations Treaty Series are in arabic numerals. References to volume numbers in the League of Nations Treaty Series are in roman numerals. Dates of treaties and agreements: Two dates joined by a hyphen (e.g., 1946, 3 Jan.-5 April; or 1945, 21 Dec-1946, 3 Jan.) indicate the first and last dates in a series of exchanges of notes concerning the same agreement. Two dates of the same month divided by a fraction sign (e.g., 1943, 9/13 Dec) or of different months (e.g., 1945, 1 July/21 August) indicate, on the other hand, that no notes have been exchanged on the intervening dates.
