Waste Management Inc. withdrew its application in late 2010, following heated opposition by residents. The company never did resubmit its proposal but in May, when council members were discussing a zoning change that could allow landfills, the signs began to appear. Now, Golden Engineer- ing and Environmental Solutions, a company out of Orlando, has its sights set on the property, along with a proposal that also includes a landfill.
