However, Cytisus pindicola Halacsy is a recognized synonym of C. austriacus and therefore not included on this assessment. There are minor segregates from Cytisus that persist in local floristics such as Chamaecytisus, therefore the species has been found in Floras and reports as Chamaecytisus jankae (Velen.) Rothm. In this assessment has been followed Polhill and Van Wyk (2005), who in Legumes of the World re-included Chamaecytisus in Cytisus following Cristofolini (1991); Käss and Wink (1997); Cubas et al. (2002) and Wink and Mohamed (2003). General Information Distribution The species is endemic to the Balkan mountains (Făgăraş et al. 2010), Bulgaria, former Yugoslavia (Serbia), Romania and Albania. The species has been reported as characteristic from Western Pontic feathergrass steppes, pastureland, natural or secondary grass communities on plain terrain along the West Black Sea Coast and soil developed to different stages on limestone bedrock. It is one of the diagnostic species from a new association Paeonio tenuifoliae-Koelerietum brevis in Bulgaria and from the Myrsiniteto-Ischaemetum association in Mt. The ecoregion has a good network of protected areas, however the species has not been reported from within them. Seeds have yet to be collected as an ex situ conservation effort.
