Report – Chairman CUJFC, Michael Robinson WEATHER REPORT The traditional White Christmas arrived in November this year as the region suffered from unseasonal Arctic conditions which brought most sporting activities to a standstill – including all rugby matches. The two Tynedale 1st XV league fixtures affected have been reorganised as follows:- Fixture Original Date New Date Cinderford v Tynedale 27 November 2010. 5 February 2011. Tynedale v Cambridge 4 December 2010. 26 February 2011. SPONSORS We are delighted that DAISY COMMUNICATIONS LTD., who acquired the businesses of BNS Telecom Group PLC with effect from 19th February 2010, have agreed to continue to be the main sponsor of Tynedale Rugby Football Club. Daisy is a leading provider of integrated voice and data services to customers in the small-medium business market, providing products including access, voice, managed services and mobile telephony. We are grateful for their continued support in what we feel has been a successful partnership. This season we have also received new sponsorship from the BLUEFIN GROUP, who are underwriting the costs of this season’s match programmes. Bluefin are insurance brokers, providing corporate, commercial, home and motor insurance advice. We are also being sponsored, for the first time, by CAPALEX, from Cleator Moor, Cumbria. Capital Aluminium Extrusion Limited supply on-site services including extrusion, powder coating, machining and assembly for a wide range of industries. We are grateful to Peter and Janice Beasley of Capalex and to Mike Fieldhouse of Bluefin for making these two new sponsorship deals a reality. We continue to be supported by other established sponsors, who have been loyal for many years, such as TROYNORTH LTD., NORTHERN COUNTIES INSURANCE, C.I. ACCOUNTANCY LTD., and the JOHN LEWIS/WAITROSE GROUP along with many others whose advertising boards are visible around the ground. In these financially challenging times, when rugby clubs are also faced with the drastic reductions in funding from the Rugby Football Union, the lifeblood of rugby clubs remains their members and generous sponsors. Many thanks to all who have given us such continued and unstinting support. 2. LAST SEASON TYNEDALE RFC – PLAYING RESULTS (LEAGUE AND CUP) – 2009/10. Stewart NEW APPOINTMENTS The club is delighted to announce the appointment of STEPHEN HULL as Sales & Marketing Officer for Tynedale RFC. Reporting to the Management Committee, Steve will take responsibility for the development of the key commercial revenue streams of the club (advertising, sponsorship, major events and clubhouse events) as well as the overall marketing and communications activities. Steve lives in Acomb, and is married with two children. He enjoyed a successful career with businesses like Northumbrian Water and United Utilities where he held senior commercial positions. We look forward to Steve using his knowledge and expertise to drive the club’s commercial activities. 4. OTHER DEVELOPMENTS AT THE CLUB 1) We have set up a Special Funding sub-committee at Tynedale under the chairmanship of Tony Coates to look at two main topics – firstly the funding of anticipated losses in the next two seasons resulting from the RFU’s withdrawal of much of the funding of National League Rugby, and secondly to investigate the steps which are needed to try to secure the long-term financial future of Tynedale RFC. We are trying to avoid the financial problems suffered by many other rugby union clubs, resulting in the demise of clubs like Mounts Bay and the difficulties encountered by Manchester, London Welsh, Birmingham & Solihull, etc. 2) The club has applied for planning permission to replace the redundant scout hut on the Stanners Lane, north west, corner of Tynedale Park, with a two-storey family dwelling. Local residents have been canvassed for their opinions and were invited to attend a display and consultation evening which was held at the club on Thursday evening, 16th September. A pre- application enquiry has been raised with the planning authority. The proposals are on display in the clubhouse and are available for inspection and comments. 3) We have established a club within Tynedale RFC with its own affairs and regulations.
