Welcome to the 2015 Tom Izzo Basketball Overnight Camp! Please take the time to review the following information. We are here to make sure you have an enjoyable experience and leave with lasting memories while learning more about basketball here at Michigan State. Instructions for Registration Parking is available in Lot 63 (south of Breslin). You must enter the lot off Shaw Lane. Proceed to Spartan Stadium for registration. Signs will be posted to help you check in and get your meal card and dorm room key from the camp staff. Once checked in, check the back of your meal card and make sure that you have been assigned to a team. Divisions are named for the seven Final Four appearances under Coach Izzo, while teams are named after the many great Spartan players of the past. If you have not been assigned a team or have questions, please talk to a student manager after you pass through the registration line. (Returning campers should note there are now seven divisions, not six, and division placement may not match previous seasons as a result). Teams are randomly generated by computer based on the age and height supplied on your registration. We are unable to accommodate any special requests for team placement. We will make trades throughout the first day of camp to balance the teams and make sure that campers are placed in the correct age group. Regardless of team placement, there are opportunities to spend time with friends – i.e. lunch, dorms, guest speakers, etc. You will find the camp cheat sheet, a daily schedule and a game schedule for the camp in this packet. The play-off schedule will be distributed over e-mail and posted at sites during lunch on the last day of camp. Once checked in, please proceed to the dorms and eat dinner. Campers will be staying and eating in Holden Hall. You may enter the Breslin Center at Gate B starting at 4:00 p.m. We will begin camp at 5:30 p.m. We ask that campers sit in the gray bleachers and the parents observe from the green seats as we begin camp. Campers should come to the arena floor as their team name is called. Please be extra careful coming down the stairs and when first stepping up onto the gym floor. Check-Out Procedure: “Permission to Leave” forms will first be made available at registration on the first day. If parents need to pick up their camper at any time during camp, you must do so from Holden Hall and sign a “Permission to Leave” form. This is to ensure the safety of all campers and to make sure everyone is accounted for at all times. Camp staff may not release the camper without this form. Parking: Parents and friends may park in Lot 63, the large parking lot south of the Breslin Center, for free if they are staying to watch any part of camp. Parking in faculty/staff spaces is not permitted and will result in ticketing (this includes lots at Jenison Fieldhouse, IM West and the dorms). Overnight parking is available in Lot 83. Dorms: Campers will be housed with supervision in Holden Hall. If campers are placing a food order, campers should order it prior to 8:15 p.m. so that the food can arrive to the building prior to the doors closing at 10:00 p.m. each night. Meals: Campers will eat meals in Holden Hall. Personal items (bags, water bottles, etc.) are permitted in the cafeteria, but campers are strongly encouraged to travel as lightly as possible to camp sessions, leaving unnecessary items in their dorm room. Michigan State University assumes no liability for lost or stolen items. Game Schedules: Each camper will play seven games, the buzzer beater tournament and at least two additional play-off games. A copy of the game schedule is available in this packet and at each site. The play-off schedule will be distributed over e-mail during lunch on the last day of camp once the last games are played. During games, we ask that only players and coaches be on the court or in the bench area. There will be designated areas to view camp. Camp Photos: Photos with Coach Izzo are available Monday starting at 7:30 a.m. and can be purchased during the afternoon on the last day of camp for $15.00 inside Gate B. (Cash or Check made out to Jeff Garland). The line will begin at the Breslin Center ticket office on the southeast side of the building. Awards Ceremony: Camp will conclude with an award ceremony, our annual camp highlight tape, and a player autograph session at approximately 4:00 p.m. on the last day of camp at the Breslin Center. Parents and friends are invited to attend. You must check out of the dorms and return your room key to Holden Hall after leaving the Breslin Center. Failure to return your room key to the front desk may result in additional charges for replacement.
