Dallas Water Utilities Benchmarks April, 2014 Purpose To communicate changes and additions to the Dallas Water Utilities Benchmark publication as part of the Dallas Water Utilities Elevation Control Network maintenance program. The City of Dallas has recognized that having a consistent elevation datum within the City provides necessary structure for any construction efforts. Additionally, having a freely available set of Benchmarks can reduce construction costs not only for City sponsored projects but for privately sponsored projects, as well. Caveats Neither the City of Dallas, any Department operated by the City of Dallas, City of Dallas employees, nor City of Dallas Contractors, assume any liability for the use or reliance on any data presented herein. In all cases, it is the responsibility of the user to verify the correctness or usefulness of this data for any purposes whatsoever. In Case of Errors: It is possible that errors exist in this document. Errors can include poorly written location descriptions, elevations that may be incorrect, coordinates or Latitudes and Longitudes that are in error, not found benchmarks, or anything else that would render a benchmark questionable. We encourage the users of this data to provide feedback on the information herein provided, and if errors are found, please forward your findings to: Anel Rodríguez Project Coordinator Dallas Water Utilities 2121 Main Street, Suite 401 Dallas, Texas 75201 (214) 948-4614 [email protected] Data Presentation The data presented in this document is as follows: cnt This column is a simple count and is issued by the database. Preface to the April, 2014 Version of the Dallas Water Utilities Benchmarks This list of Dallas Water Utilities Benchmarks has been electronically available for about two years. During this time, there have been several versions submitted. The Dallas Water Utilities Automation and Integration Division continues to provide maintenance to existing benchmarks. Additionally, it has been reviewing the data for accuracy and correctness. The result of this effort is a new version of the Dallas Water Utilities Benchmarks. The main purpose of this update is to communicate that all benchmark descriptions are now available. Many benchmarks were added or re-instated. Also, we have eliminated the benchmarks that were found to be out of tolerance, lost due to construction or obliterated and placed as not reliable. This resulted on a net gain of more than 30 benchmarks in comparison with the previous edition. The April, 2014 listing of the Dallas Water Utilities Benchmarks has had numerous descriptions “cleaned” up and efforts were made to be sure the locations shown are shown on the correct Mapsco page and grid. During next year, we expect to provide an updated version with the addition of benchmarks re-instated or benchmarks that were existent but not recovered in past efforts. Also a possibility is the removal of benchmarks not found, destroyed or out of tolerance. Should you, as a user of this data find an error in a location, description, or elevation, please let us know and we will do our best to correct or eliminate the Benchmark in question. We encourage the participation of the public and feedback is always appreciated.
