His lead grew to three when he birdied No. 17 and Petrovic bogeyed No. 16, and a birdie on the 18th hole produced the final four-shot margin. Broadhurst’s total of 265 matches the lowest 72-hole total in tournament history (Rocco Mediate/2016). It is tied for the eighth-best 72-hole total in PGA TOUR Champions history. Broadhurst’s final-round 63 is the best finish by a winner in the tournament’s 79-year history. The record was previously held by Allen Doyle, who closed with a 64 to win in 1999. His third-round 64 and final-round 63 were the two lowest scores of the tournament. This week, he ranked No. 1 in putts per GIR (1.57) and No. 2 in total putts (105). In the four years the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship has been played at Harbor Shores, a player from the United Kingdom has won three times: o 2018 – Paul Broadhurst (England) o 2014 – Colin Montgomerie (Scotland) o 2012 – Roger Chapman (England) KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship | May 24-27, 2018 Page 2 of 2 | Final-Round Notes In both of Broadhurst’s major victories, he has carded an over-par first round. He opened with a 3-over 75 at the 2016 Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex, and he went on to win by two with an 11-under total. No other winner on PGA TOUR Champions has opened with an over-par score since Broadhurst’s win in 2016. For both of Broadhurst’s major victories, he has been paired with Miguel Angel Jimenez in the final round. This is Broadhurst’s third two-win season as a senior golfer: o 2018: Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf, KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship (PGA TOUR Champions) o 2017: Scottish Senior Open, Paris Legends Championship (Staysure Tour) o 2016: The Senior Open Championship, PURE Insurance Championship (PGA TOUR Champions) His paycheck of $585,000 is the largest of his professional career, and he moves to No. 1 in the Charles Schwab Cup with $921,099. He becomes the fifth player to top the standings this season, joining Jerry Kelly (4 weeks), Steve Stricker (3), Bernhard Langer (2) and David Toms (1). Tim Petrovic, 66-69-65-69 – 269 (-15) Petrovic’s last solo lead came after his birdie on No. 7, and he last shared the lead after he made birdie on No. 10. Petrovic earned $347,000 with his second-place finish. It is his highest paycheck since he finished T2 at the 2012 Safeway Open ($440,000). It is Petrovic’s second runner-up finish this season, as he closed with a career-best 64 and finished T2 at the Chubb Classic in February. Scott McCarron, 66-68-66-70 – 270 (-14) McCarron parred the first four holes and was part of a three-way tie for the lead. He fell off the pace after bogeys on Nos. 5 and 6, and he finished T3 after a final-round 70. McCarron’s record drops to 4-for-8 when leading/co-leading at the start of the final round. The T3 finish is his eighth top-10 in 13 major starts, including a win at the 2017 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship. This season, he has seven top-10s. Other Notes Jerry Kelly went eagle-birdie-birdie-birdie on Nos. 9-12 to pull within two shots of the lead at 13-under. A birdie on the last hole gave him a final-round 65 and T3 finish. It was his sixth top-10 of the season and his third top-10 in six majors starts. Miguel Angel Jimenez, winner of last week’s Regions Tradition, carded a final-round 68 and finished fifth. Colin Montgomerie, a two-time winner of the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, made four straight birdies (Nos. 8-11) en route to a final-round 67 and a T6 finish. Of the 41 PGA Club Professionals that started the week, Mark Mielke was the only one to make the cut. He carded a final-round 75 and finished 72nd at 4-over. The field’s seven highest-ranked players in the Charles Schwab Cup (entering the week) made the cut, and five finished in the top 10: o 3. Joe Durant (T15/-8) o 4. Miguel Angel Jimenez (5th/-12) o 5. Jerry Kelly (T3/-14) o 6. Gene Sauers (T10/-9) o 7. Vijay Singh (T19/-6) o 8. David Toms (T10/-9) o 9. Scott McCarron (T3/-14) After a week off, the next tournament on PGA TOUR Champions will be the 18th-annual Principal Charity Classic at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa (June 8-10). Brandt Jobe is the defending champion, while Scott McCarron was the 2016 winner. KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship | May 24-27, 2018 .
