The Silver Veil is Vignal's debut full-length, and its ten tracks demonstrate an intense acoustic style, carried by pared-down arrangements, with a subtle nostalgic touch. www.facebook.com/raoulvignalmusic Contacts: booking: La Cordillière, Henri d'Hautefeuille, [email protected] label: Talitres, Sean Bouchard, [email protected] | TSHEGUE (soul garage) | Wed 17 / Grand Theatre, main / 21:30-22:15 Nicolas Dacunha, a native of the Parisian suburbs, and Faty Sy Savanet, born in Kinshasa, grew up in Lemba, a trendy district of the Congolese capital. The name Tshegue has double meaning: it is the nickname of the singer, and also the name given to the little boys in the streets of Kinshasa. A music with a rough atmosphere, boosted by epileptic rhythms, intense phrasing and a tribal vibe. www.facebook.com/Tshegue Contacts: booking: Olympia Production, Antonin Despins, antonin.despins@ olympiaprod.com / label: Ekler'o'shock, Matthieu Gazier, [email protected] | LYSISTRATA (rock) | Wed 17 / Huis de Beurs / 21:30-22:15 Lysistrata is a rock power-trio mostly instrumental operating somewhere between post-rock, noise and math-rock. Transcendental guitar finesse shines from a backdrop of unstoppable drum/bass impetus. Once on stage they pack down the vibrations, amplify the tension and let it all come out like tomorrow just got cancelled. www.facebook.com/lysistratatheband Contacts: booking: Jerkov Musiques, Charles Feraud, [email protected] label: Vicious Circle, Guillaume Le Collen, [email protected] | CHAPELIER FOU (electro) | Wed 17 / Der Aa-Kerk / 0:30-1:15 After studying classical violin and harpsichord, Louis Warynski composed his first songs, mixing violin with electro, then in 2009, he signed with French independent label Ici d'ailleurs as Chapelier Fou. The multi-instrumentalist from Metz has gradually unveiled a strong and captivating universe with gentle compositions where the instruments mix with electronic programming. www.facebook.com/chapelierfou Contacts: booking: Wart, Marine Serpault, [email protected] label: Ici, D'Ailleurs, Stéphane Grégoire, [email protected] LIVE ACTS | PAPOOZ (pop) | Thu 18 / Minerva, zuiderdiep / 20:30-21:10 Papooz’ pop spirit sways the hips with an exotic je-ne-sais-quoi. Ulysse and Armand are in their twenties, and both grew up with music from the 70s, from The Beach Boys to The Velvet Underground. The duo chose the name Papooz, because it sounded good, with a tropical tone they were thrilled about and the recollection of a Native American tribal cradle. www.facebook.com/papoozband Contacts: booking: Radical Productions, René Gentil, [email protected] label: Half Awake / Sony, Elodie Bensoussan, [email protected] | LOIC NOTTET (pop) | Thu 18 / Groninger Forum / 20:30-21:10 (+ Plato Groningen 12:50-13:10) Loïc Nottet is a young pop singer, composer and dancer from Brussels, who was the Belgian representant at Eurovision 2015. He released his first album Selfocracy in 2017, which went Platinum in Belgium and Gold in France. It includes the smash single Million Eyes, a track that generated over 28 million views on YouTube, and over 14 million Spotify streams. www.facebook.com/L0oiicNottet Contacts: booking: Vangarde Music, Dimitri Borrey, [email protected] label: Jive Epic/Sony, Elodie Bensoussan, [email protected] | CELESTE (metal) | Thu 18 / Machinefabriek / 22:10-22:45 Celeste is definitely a different beast. The French band plays a mix of sludge and post-hardcore with hints of black metal and doom. New album “Infidèle(s)” is another devastating piece that recalls post-and doom metal giants Neurosis, old Cult of Luna or Deathspell Omega. Darkness is really the word that fits them best. www.facebook.com/celesteband Contacts: booking: Voulez-vous Danser, Adrien Kremer, [email protected] / label: Denovali Records, [email protected] | KILLASON (electro-rap) | Thu 18 / Simplon, main / 22:15-23:00 KillASon is the latest in a long line of successful French hip hop artists, but one thing really makes him stand out: he raps in English. In fact this 22-year-old singer sounds like an American rapper, effortlessly aligning English punch-lines. The Parisian is a skilled rapper, beat-maker and dancer and is on his way to becoming one of the most complete hip hop artists from France. www.facebook.com/KillASonOnFleekah Contacts: booking: Furax, William Marguier, [email protected] label: Supanova, Charlotte Corre, [email protected] LIVE ACTS | RONE (electro) | Thu 18 / DOT Dome / 23:15-0:00 In under 10 years, producer Rone has become a key part of the French electronic scene with a distinctive sound where sweet melodies can capsize at any moment, subsumed by his machines. Former cinema student Erwan Castex has also made quite a name with his collaborations with Bryce Dessner, Frànçois Marry,Jean- Michel Jarre and the visual genius Michel Gondry. www.facebook.com/roneofficial Contacts: booking: DiF, Peggy Szkudlarek, [email protected] label: InFiné, Yannick Matray, [email protected] | HANNAH WILLIAMS & THE AFFIRMATIONS (soul) | Thu 18 / Stadsschouwburg / 0:15-1:00 (+ Plato Groningen 17:00-17:20) A whirlwind of soul, love, lust and anger that leaves the stage in tatters where ever she plays. Following Amy Winehouse and Adele, she's a British soul singer backed by an outstanding crew of the finest musicians the UK has to offer. www.facebook.com/hannahwilliamsandtheaffirmations Contacts: booking: Base Productions, Guillaume Prince, [email protected] | POLO & PAN (pop-electro) | Thu 18 / Huize Maas, main / 1:15-2:00 Half a decade after first hitting the decks of the famous Baron club (Paris), Alexandre Grynszpan and Paul Armand-Delille aka Polo & Pan finally released their first LP Caravelle. It tells the story of their travels across the world, wishing to reconcile hedonistic dance music with the taste of timeless pop music. www.facebook.com/polopan.music Contacts: booking: Super mon amour! If there's cannibalism to be found in No Mercy for Love, it's in reference to the Caribbean rhythms here and there, and to the psychedelic sound from the backwoods. www.facebook.com/pg/Cannibalemusic Contacts: booking: My Favorite, Jiess Jean-Sébastien Nicolet, [email protected] label: Born Bad Records, Jean-Baptiste Guillot, [email protected] LIVE ACTS | SONGE (RnB / electro) | Fri 19 / Platformtheatre, main / 20:00-20:45 Between electronics
