They ran unopposed. For Piperato being named SGA president has been an ex- citing experience, but do not expect her to celebrate for too long. She is eager to start work- ing to accomplish her many goals she has already set for herself. A junior physical educa- tion major from Haverstraw, New York, she has been highly involved with several differ- ent aspects of campus life dur- ing her time at Cortland. A standout high school basketball player, Piperato played varsity basketball for Cortland for two years before reluctantly giving it up to pursue other passions. “When I played basketball here I loved every minute of it, but I felt it was time to ac- complish my other goals for my college career,” said Piper- ato. “It was then that I became an RA and got involved with resident life, multicultural life, and speaking to COR classes.” She would go on to become involved with SGA as a senator photo provided by Jamie Piperato See PRESIDENT , page 3 Newly elected Student Government President Jamie Piperato makes a speech at the Academic Convocation in August before her election Open House Brings Crowds Take The Power Back Prospective students at- Communication class 200 people in this video that will end up on YouTube, and will tended open house and takes stand and Lip Dubs potentially be seen all over the toured Cortland campus against budget cuts world.
