Kalyan city and a municipal corporation with its headquarters located in Kalyan, Thane, Maharashtra. Smart Kalyan-Dombivli Corporation Limited (SKDCL) has planned various area based development projects and plan city solutions for Kalyan smart city. The planning for the improvement & redevelopment of the Kalyan station precinct is proposed to improve the west side of the station. So, the major objective of this project is to redevelop the west side and to decongest the Kalyan Station precinct by improved pedestrian access, improved vehicular access through grade separation / rerouting of traffic etc. measures, improved parking, hawking zones and other civic amenities, application of urban design elements to improve accessibility to pedestrian users and other urban planning. The main features of the master plan are as follows: 1. Development Plan objective are achieved by increasing the right of way. 2. 2 legged grade separators are proposed to reduce traffic volume in the precinct. 3. Proposed height of the grade is 12 M. 4. Proposed KDMC Bus stand at 12 M level in front of Railway Station, over the land of MSRTC. 5. Proposed MSRTC Bus stand at ground level in front of Railway Station. 6. Proposal of 2, one-way 9 M wide grade from Mahatma Phule Chowk to allow separate entry and exit to the bus stand area at 12 M level. 7. Proposal of 2, one-way 9 M wide grade from Bail Bazar Chowk to allow separate entry and exit to the bus stand area at 12 M level. 8. Bus from Shivaji Chowk will route towards bail bazaar Chowk to get access to grade. 9. 2 Bus Bays are proposed over MSRTC land to provide stoppage for buses from Gurudev Chowk (via Bail Bazar Chowk), Mahatma Phule Chowk and Bail Bazar Chowk with 7.5 M Carriage way for each bay. 5 M/s Smart Kalyan Dombivli Corporation Limited (SKDCL) Construction (Improvement & Redevelopment) of Flyover, Foot over Bridge, Bus Stand Buildings including Commercial Building, Multi level Car Parking, Road Works and other Allied Works under Kalyan Station Precinct Improvement Project under Smart City Mission on EPC mode for SKDCL CONCEPTUAL PLAN 10. Separate Bay is provided for Taxi and Private Vehicles for all direction with 7.5 M Carriage way. 11. Bus stops are provided in front of railway station with 3 stop bays. 12. Separate Bay is provided for Taxi and Private Vehicles from Gurudev Chowk, Mahatma Phule Chowk with 3 M Carriage way. 13. A separate lane of 3.5 M is proposed for through Vehicle. 14. A 12 M wide New Road is proposed to get access to platform 1 via theatre area. 15. As per suggestions of the Stakeholders to cover the storm water Drain (Nallah) with concrete slab and construct Road / Vending zone over it, we have shown the draft lines on the drawing, but the same will only be considered once reviewed and approved by the competent authorities. We are of the opinion not to close the Nallah, instead we have suggested for the cleaning and barricading. 16. Proper circulation for all vehicles in all direction over Grade has been considered. 17. Commercial building is proposed with Bus stand with total 15188 square meters’ area. 18. 12 M wide road is proposed to connect Bail Bazar to the station allowing access to the auto and Private vehicles including 2 M Cycle Track on one side. 19. 15 M wide road is proposed to connect Mahatma Phule Chowk to the Station Area to allow access to the auto and private vehicles including 2 M Cycle Track on both sides. 20. 15 M wide and 9 M wide road is proposed to connect Gurudev Hotel Chowk to the Station Area to allow access to the auto and private vehicles. 21. 7.5 M wide road is proposed to connect MH Ali Chowk to the Station Area to allow access to the auto and private vehicles. 22. 2 M to 5M wide Footpath is proposed between Mahatma Phule Chowk to Bail Bazar Chowk in both directions. 23. 3M to 5M wide Footpath is proposed between station and Gurudev Chowk. 24. 1.5 M wide Divider with Green Plantation is proposed on the access road from Mahatma Phule Chowk to Bail Bazar Chowk. 25. 2 M Wide Divider is proposed with Green Plantation on the road in front of Railway station. 26. Separate conflict free circulation for auto and respective separate parking is proposed in front of railway station. 28. Footprints of Grade are placed so that it will be on the area proposed for divider throughout the road layout. 29. Vending Zones are provided along with the footpath on the roads of all three directions. 30. Vending Zone at level 7.5 connecting sky walk is proposed over Existing Badminton Court. 31. Waste collection bins are proposed in multiple points for waste free station precinct. 32. Seating Bench and Toilet are proposed at bus stand area and auto stand area. 33. Existing Sky Walk are removed from few stretch and new sky walk are proposed at several point with multiple dispersal point. 34. A new sky walk of 8 M width at level 7.5 M connecting Grade at 12 M with Escalator and Stairs is provided to enter the railway station. 35. Future extension of sky walks near Gurudev Chowk for connecting Metro. 36. Least dismantling of sky walk i.e. only 60 M is required. 37. To achieve the proposed layout a total of 2.70 hectare of land is required to be acquired from different stake holders.
