TRANSPORT CANBERRA CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY TIMETABLE Monday 21 December 2020 - Sunday 10 January 2021 SEASON’S GREETINGS FROM TRANSPORT CANBERRA Bus services Transport Canberra will run a revised bus timetable over the Christmas and New Year period from Monday 21 December 2020 until Sunday 10 January 2021, inclusive. This is the regular timetable but with less frequency during peak times. On public holidays bus services will run on a Sunday timetable while on other days during this period bus services will run to a special holiday timetable. Light rail services Light rail services will continue to operate as normal during the Christmas/New Year period with the exception of public holidays. On public holidays (ie. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day) light rail will run to a Sunday frequency of every 15 minutes between 8:00am to 11:00pm. Travel on Christmas Day There is a special bus timetable on Christmas Day and travel on buses and light rail will be FREE. RAPIDs Frequent direct bus and light rail routes that run between town centres and other key destinations. RAPIDs run at least every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm on weekdays, and frequently at other times. Regular routes Local bus services that are designed to get people to their town centre and other destinations in their area, such as schools or local shops. All regular routes connect with at least two RAPID routes to help customers making longer journeys. Peak bus routes Fast bus services designed to get customers travelling long distances to and from the City and Parliamentary Triangle quickly during the commuter peak on weekdays. Shuttle services These services have been designed to provide access to areas that do not require an all day, 7 day a week bus route. Using the timetables 1. Identify the timing points your bus stop is located between. Your bus is scheduled to arrive between the times shown for these points. 2. Arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes prior to scheduled departure. Times may vary due to traffic conditions. Christmas Holiday Timetable 3 MyWay Ticketing MyWay is the pre-paid ticket system used on ACT’s public transport network, including Transport Canberra buses and light rail. Using MyWay has many benefits, including cheaper fares and the convenience of not worrying about carrying cash*. Using MyWay Tap on with your MyWay card by holding your card to the platform validator located at the front or middle of the bus and at each light rail stop prior to entering the vehicle. Make sure you tap off when get off the bus or light rail. The MyWay card reader will only let you tap off when the bus and light rail arrive at a stop. What does it cost? MyWay fares are incurred for each single trip and depends on whether the travel is during the peak or off-peak times (off peak travel is between 9 am – 4.30 pm and after 6 pm weekdays, all weekend and on public holidays). All MyWay fares include a free 90-minute transfer. This enables you to connect to different buses and light rail within the transfer period once your MyWay card has been validated for the first time. However, all MyWay card users must tap on and tap off as required on all services. We recommend you register your MyWay card to protect the balance if the card is lost, stolen or damaged. * Due to COVID-19, cash fares are currently not accepted. Please use MyWay cards or pre-paid tickets from a ticket vending machine located at major bus stations and at light rail stations. Where can I get a MyWay Card? Ticket Vending Machine Ticket vending machines are located at all light rail stops and major bus interchanges. You can purchase a single trip ticket which includes a free 90-minute transfer period. Daily tickets allow unlimited travel until the last service from the day of purchase.
