BACKGROUND On October 4th, H.J.R. 496 and S.J.R. 225 were passed designating the week of Novemer 21, 1982 as "National Alzheimer's Disease Week." Alzheimer's Disease is the fourth leading cause of death in this country, claiming at least 120,000 victims each year, it is referred to as "The Silent Epidemic" yet it affects an estimated 1.5 million American victims and their families.
