Sung Wong Toi Station of the Tuen Ma Line Opens for Public Visit Today

PR043/21 13 June 2021 Sung Wong Toi Station of the Tuen Ma Line Opens for Public Visit Today MTR Corporation welcomed more than 3,000 visitors, including around 400 participants from NGOs and community organisations invited by the Corporation at an Open Day at the new MTR Sung Wong Toi Station today (13 June 2021). Apart from familiarising themselves with the new station facilities and services, visitors could also appreciate the history of the Sung Wong Toi area and the station artwork “Earth Song” at the station. Sung Wong Toi Station and To Kwa Wan Station are the two new stations to open on the day of service commencement of the full Tuen Ma Line (“TML”) on 27 June 2021. Upon the commissioning of Sung Wong Toi Station, residents and members of the public will be able to enjoy the convenient access to be brought by the new all-weather underground pedestrian network linking to the centre of Kowloon City. There are also entrances/exits connecting with the Kai Tak Development Area ready for its future development. Some of the archaeological relics unearthed during the construction of Sung Wong Toi Station will be displayed in cabinets inside the station upon the service commencement of the full TML. An ancient stone well that was discovered will be reinstated in-situ in the future. Stickers are placed on the floor and at the ceiling of the station concourse to introduce the stone well and indicate its future location when reinstated. With 27 stations spanning a route length of approximately 56 km, the TML connects the east and the west of the New Territories and extends the railway network into the To Kwa Wan and Kowloon City area. Upon the opening on 27 June, passengers will be able to enjoy a more extensive, environmentally friendly railway network with six interchange stations connecting the TML to four existing railway lines including East Rail Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line, and Tung Chung Line. -End- About MTR Corporation Every day, MTR connects people and communities.
