Socio ecuational programs are given in order to promote the social cohesion and the volunteering at the Raval neighbourhood (Ciutat Vella) in Barcelona. It’s objective is to give tools to the women in the neighbourhood; this tools are academic, labor and personal. Terral is oriented to Raval’s women and girls and their families. The participants are original from this neighbourhood or recent arrivals coming from 39 different countries of four continents. Towards a personal and profesional improvement. We present a new memory of the activities at Terral, marked by the growth. The course started in 2012 – 13 with a lot of verve since we had an special event coming: our 10th anniversary. “The woman as a change engine” was the main idea held at the “Palau Guell”. It was such a special day where people who has supported us since we started the Terral project was there. Obviously, after ten years we grew. Our space was limited and the facilities couldn’t held any more activities, but this couldn’t be an obstacle for us. This is how, during this course, the famous “Lancaster” (the antique bohemic cellar) has become into a multifunctional space to help us keep 10º aniversario Terral - Palau Güell growing with this project with the support of the Caixa Social help foundation and to the Maria Francisca de Roviralta Foundation. Thanks to this our project will keep growing and providing the families and their kids an appropriate space to grow and learn with a one to one methodology. The profesional improvement has been our objective trough this course. We have been doing a tracing to the students trough the term in order to help them with the courses they have difficulty with like maths or language. Regarding the education of adults we are giving homemade garment courses, languages and the third edition of the waitress course which has been a success. Finally, we have to say that the Terral project wouldn’t have come true without the collaboration of so many people who Programa de niñas has volunteer all over the weeks. Managment team Programa de adultas Testimonies: CARLA-ELISA, Rumania 4 Primary In Terral you can feel peace, people is very kind with JAN everyone and you can learn , China so many things, but the most Volunteer important is that they make us happy. I always dreamt about doing some social labor in Africa or India but then I realized that it wasn’t necessary to go LUZ, Filipinas that far, I could do it in Spain since it has been very touch Housewife with the economic crisis. I started the volunteer at Terral with a lot of expectations to I tell to my friends that if they help people but at the end want to learn spanish they I have been the one who should come to Terral. It is has received the most. I’ve for me more than a school, been so lucky to work in an they help people who really environment where people is need it. valued for what they are and not where they come from. 4 Testimonies: TERESA, Barcelona Jubilate Every morning i do homemade garment and i love it because we keep learning and people listen to you and help with anything we can need. Its such a luck to be in Terral, you have a teacher for your own!! They explain and you understand! I’m not exaggerating, it’s just the truth. I am really thankful with the parents for letting us being part of their daughter’s life. 5 Raval’s heart What does Terral want? El Raval is one of the neighbourhood of the Ciutat Vella district in Barcelona. Almost 50% of the people who live here are inmigrants coming from more than 51 different countries, according to the survey made in January 2012. Since the end on the XX century, a public space rehab plan has been happening. However, this neighbourhood is still being highlighted because of the many people living there, disrepair houses, high rating of unemployment and school dropout. This is why a lot of entities like Terral work here.
