Am 21. Juni 2014 haben mich die Kongressdelegierten unserer Mitgliedsländer zum fünften Mal in meinem Amt als Präsident des Internationalen Rennrodelverbandes (FIL) bestätigt. Dafür möchte ich mich ganz herzlich bedanken! Zusammen mit der ebenfalls neu gewählten Exekutive stelle ich mich gerne den Herausforderungen, die die kommenden vier Jahre mit sich bringen mögen, und starte mit großer Motivation in eine neue, nacholympische Saison. In dieser Ausgabe des FIL-Magazines finden Sie - wie in jeder Herbstausgabe - eine Saisonvorschau für Kunstbahn sowie Naturbahn, deshalb möchte ich hier an dieser Stelle nur so viel verraten: Besonders freue ich mich im Kunstbahnbereich auf die Premiere des neuen FIL-Sprint Weltcups mit drei Rennen in Innsbruck- Igls, Calgary und Altenberg. Ich bin gespannt, wie dieses neue, spritzige Rennformat bei Zuschauern, Athleten und Mannschaften, vor allem aber auch bei den Medien ankommen wird. Im Naturbahnbereich starten wir auch gleich mit einem Höhepunkt in die neue Saison: mit einem Parallelwettbewerb, der im Rahmen der bewährten GRM Group Weltcup-Serie in Hochfügen/AUT ausgetragen wird. Wir berichten in dieser Ausgabe unter anderem auch von der Reaktivierung der Olympiabahn in Sarajevo, die in den 1990er-Jahren im Bosnien-Krieg zerstört wurde. Vor genau 30 Jahren war die Kunstbahn am Berg Trebevic Austragungsort der Olympischen Entscheidungen im Rennrodeln. Nun wird sie durch eine einzig- artige Initiative des Rennrodel-Verbandes von Bosnien und Herzegowina wieder zum Leben erweckt. Auch mit Unterstützung der FIL und – wie wir hoffen – des Internationalen Olympischen Komitees (IOC). Diese Tatsache erfüllt mich mit großer Freude, besonders auch vor dem Hintergrund unseres Jubiläums „50 Jahre Rennrodelsport bei Olympia“, das wir dieses Jahr ausgiebig gefeiert haben. Auch darüber berichten wir in dieser Ausgabe des FIL-Magazines. I would like to extend my most heartfelt thanks for this! Together with the newly elected Executive Board, I look forward to tackling the challenges that the next four years will bring and enter a new post-Olympic season with great motivation. In this edition of the FIL Magazine as in every fall edition, you will find a season preview for artificial and nat- ural track, therefore I only want to give away so much: in the artificial track sector, I am especially pleased with the premiere of the new FIL Sprint World Cup with three races in Innsbruck-Igls, Calgary, and Altenberg. I am anxious to see how this new, lively race format will be received by spectators, athletes, and teams and particularly also by the media. Natural track luge begins the season with a highlight: a parallel competition which is being staged at the tried and tested GRM Group World Cup series in Hochfügen/AUT. We also report on the reactivation of the Olympic track in Sarajevo, which was destroyed in the Bosnian war in the 1990’s. Exactly 30 years ago, the artificial track on Trebevic Mountain was the venue of the Olympic luge competitions. In a unique initiative by the Bosnian luge federation, the track is now being brought back to life. Also with support from the FIL and – we hope – from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This fact fills me with great joy, especially with the background of our anniversary “50 Years Luge at Olympic Games”, which we have celebrated extensively this year. FIL-Kongress in Innsbruck Josef Fendt geht in sein drittes Jahrzehnt als Präsident Josef Fendt geht in sein drittes Jahrzehnt an der Spitze des Internationalen Rennrodel-Verbandes (FIL). Beim 62. FIL-Kongress in Innsbruck (Österreich) bestätigten die Delegierten aus 38 Mitgliedsverbänden den Präsidenten per Akklamation einmütig zum fünften Mal an der Spitze des olympischen Fachverbandes. Fendt, 1976 Olympia-Zweiter und 1970 sowie 1974 Weltmeister, steht seit Juni 1994 als Nachfolger von Gründungspräsident Bert Isatitsch (1957 – 1994) aus Österreich an der Spitze der FIL. Umgesetzt wurde in der Hauptstadt Tirols auch die zwei Jahre zuvor beschlossene Verschlankung der Exekutive. Ebenfalls einstimmig
