Stage 4. Hampton Court Bridge to West Byfleet (via Thames Path, streets, then Wey Navigation) -- detailed instructions -- 0.0mi :: Thames Path crosses Hampton Court Bridge . Stage starts on the bridge. 0.0mi :: Leave Hampton Court Bridge on SOUTH bank of River Thames. Head WEST on Thames Path . Follow THAMES PATH on SOUTH bank for 4.8mi. The river will be on your right. 4.8mi :: You will arrive at Walton Bridge . Note that the bridge is being rebuilt, and there may be Thames Path diversions in operation. For the next mile the Thames Path makes use of both banks of the Thames. DO NOT cross the river -- Stay on the SOUTH bank with the river on your RIGHT. (in the absence of any bridge works you just pass under Walton Bridge and continue ) Fig A: Walton Bridge (@ 4.8mi) 4.9mi :: After passing Walton Bridge, remain on riverside path on SOUTH bank. The river will be to your right, and the (busy) Walton Lane to your left. Fig B: Walton Lane (@ 4.9mi) 6.2mi :: riverside path emerges through car park onto Thames Street . Follow Thames Street south for 0.2mi. Fig C: riverside-path / Walton Lane / Thames Street junction (@ 6.2mi) 6.4mi :: Turn RIGHT onto Portmore Park Road , passing between a fine set of "gate posts"! Follow Portmore Park Road for 0.6mi. Note the road wiggles and goes up/down a bit. Fig D: Thames Street / Portmore Park Rd junction (@ 6.4mi) 7.0mi :: Go straight over roundabout, through "No Entry" signs and onto Old Wharf Way . Follow Old Wharf Way (~0.1mi) to arrive at Bridge Road T-junction. Fig E: Portmore Park Rd / Weybridge Rd / Old Wharf Way roundabout (@ 7.0mi) 7.1mi :: At the end of Old Wharf Way , turn RIGHT onto Bridge Road . Follow Bridge Road (becomes Addlestone Road ) for 0.1mi. Fig E: Old Wharf Way / Bridge Rd junction (@ 7.1mi) 7.1mi :: Follow Bridge Road over bridge to become Addlestone Road . Fig F: Bridge Rd becomes Addlestone Rd after bridge (@ 7.1mi) 7.2mi :: Proceed along Addlestone Rd. The first lock of the River Wey Navigation canal to your left. Use either Addlestone Rd or the path between the road and the canal, for 0.2mi. The canal will be on your LEFT side for this 0.2mi stretch. Fig G: Addlestone Rd (@ 7.2mi) 7.4mi :: As Addlestone Rd bends right, turn left to take road bridge over Wey Navigation canal. Immediately after crossing canal turn RIGHT and follow tow-path with canal on your RIGHT. Follow tow-path for 1.3mi, always keeping the canal to your RIGHT.
