The well-balanced squad will see a senior captain in three of the four positional areas of the field and will look to those players to help replace the important and influential leadership that was lost in the off-season. Tech will face one of its most difficult non-conference schedules this year, while play in the powerful Atlantic Coast Conference will not be far behind. Kelsey Billups “We are very excited to begin our 2010 season,” said head coach Kelly Cagle. “While we will miss the contributions of our outstanding graduating class from 2009, we are confident in our current leadership and in our returning group. These players have seen what it takes to get to the postseason now for two consecutive years, and we are looking to those experiences to help us get back to the NCAA tournament again. We welcome our newcomers and we will look for their impact to be immediate, as we will need their contributions to face the challenging schedule that lies ahead.” fORWaRDS The forward position is where the Hokies lost who saw limited playing time in her first active only goal of the game to top then-No. 1 North the most depth in the off-season. Senior leader Jennifer Harvey has been the stronghold for Tech in the middle of the field for the past two seasons and she took her offensive game one step further last season, tallying nine goals and going 5-for-5 on penalty kicks.
